We have been ready to expand our family for a few years and have a strong relationship, community and circle of support to surround us in the journey of parenthood.

We can’t begin to understand the difficult decision you are going through, we promise to love and care for your child. We will provide your child a safe and loving environment surrounded by family and unconditional love, while making sure to celebrate you as their birth mother and would love to foster a relationship at any level of openness that feels comfortable to you.

About Us

We met in 2014, have been together ever since we started dating in 2o15. Family and traditions are very important to us and have set the foundation of our relationship. We love sharing our lives and have many shared interests/traditions such as cooking, music (we collect vinyl records), being outdoors, board games, yoga/exercise and spending time with family. We have 2 small dogs, Elvis and Marigold, and they are integral part of our family – included in many of our activities/adventures.

Sylvia
I was raised in Ontario and moved to British Columbia in 2013. I am a first generation Canadian whose parents immigrated here from Hungary. I am healthy 46 years young and have spent the last decade learning and engaging in holistic tools to take care of my wellbeing (eating clean, meditating, supplements, exercise) so that I can life a long, healthy, holistic life. I have one older sister with whom I am close. We talk nearly every day on the phone and spend our birthdays and holidays together alongside her family. With them alongside, we have a great support system, and our family is always happy to lend a hand to us when needed. I currently work at a local chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association while also completing my studies to become a Clinical Counsellor that will allow us more time and freedom as we expand our family.

Sheldon
I was born and raised in British Columbia, with my family having lived here for several generations. My life has brought me many adventures including the opportunity to travel and live abroad in Germany during my 20s. Having settled back in Canada, I am very fortunate to live in a country that has given me many opportunities to work hard and grow. A natural creator since my early years, I graduated from Visual College of Art & Design and currently work in cabinet installation while doing freelance graphic design.  I have built many of our home projects (dog stairs, bookshelves) and love seeing a vision come into being!  It keeps my mind and body active,  and is one of the many tools I use to stay healthy!

Our Home & Community

We live in the beautiful community of New Westminster, British Columbia.

Our home is a two bedroom condo in building with several other families from a diverse cultural array. The building is located within walking distance of several elementary and secondary schools, public parks, community centres and the library. We love enjoying all the amenities of our community; whether it be taking our dogs to the park, swimming at local pool or enjoying concerts at the Quay. We are very fortunate to have become friends with many of our neighbors or local business owners in our time living here, friends who have been a wonderful support us on our journey to expand our family and could be counted to support us on the challenges that come with parenting.

The city we live in is centrally located to both Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, where we have many close friends and families whom we regularly get together with for fun, adventure and celebration. Living in British Columbia, we never miss the opportunity to enjoy the local mountains and oceans – whether it be hiking, skiing or swimming.

We are very close with our immediate families. We enjoy regular dinners, outings, and particularly enjoy anytime we can spend with our nieces and nephews. Our families have  witnessed first hand our long and difficult journey to bring children into our home. They are all excited at the prospect of adding another member to our family through adoption and will envelope any child brought into our family with pure love.

Our Thoughts about Parenting & Adoption

Being parents is something that we have both always wanted, and expanding our family through adoption is something that always felt like the natural next step when we were unable to conceive a child naturally. We have family members and close friends who are adopted and are honored to grow our family this way.

When we think about parenting and building a family, our paramount focus will be providing a safe space for the child to feel love, nurtured, and supported to develop themselves as their true being. Within our home, we have a wide array of interests (music, sports, art, cooking) and will expose the child to any interests, activities that cultivate them in their development whether they are similar or different to the ones already within our lifestyle. We look forward to bring a child into our family routines/traditions (Sunday breakfast!) as well as creating new ones as a family of three (matching onesies?).

They will know that their adoption story is one of an expansion of love and connection and we look forward to having an open relationship you as their birth parent (s) because that relationship and their birth culture will an important part of their life story and identity. We are available to as much openness as you are comfortable with, be it pictures, letters, phone/video calls and visits with yourself and your family. Your child will always know how much you love them and where they came from – we will make sure they understand their cultural background and are exposed to as many of your traditions into our daily life, holidays, and special occasions. We plan to make a LifeBook with pictures of you and the rest of their birth family so that they always know about their unique and special life story.

Closing Thoughts

Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents and we cannot wait to meet you!

Please know that your child will always know where they come from and their story as they grow. We are hopeful to have the opportunity to meet you and to grow our relationship so that you will not only be the birth parent (s) but part of our family.

We are very excited to become parents and have so much to give in this most rewarding and satisfying journey of our lives.

with love,

Sylvia & Sheldon
