Canada Adopts! was born in 2001, but its roots go back three years earlier.
That’s when late one night we got a phone call that would forever change our lives: A woman who had seen our parent profile online wanted to know if we would be interested in adopting her baby.
Weeks later we became parents.
Afterwards, we figured that if connecting online with a birthmother worked for us, it could work for others too. And so we launched Canada Adopts!
The website was such a novel concept that it made front page news across the country.
Some adoption professionals were mortified. They feared that allowing hopeful parents and birthparents to meet online and make their own choices would turn the adoption process upside down.
And it has, in a good way.
Since then we’ve helped create 100+ loving families, and we look forward to creating many more.
