About Us

We met and began dating in 2003 as university students and married in 2008. From almost day one, we have always supported each other through the ups and downs that life threw our way. Our wonderful son Jude was born in 2016 after many years of infertility. We strongly and passionately desire to expand our family with another child. We view adoption as the most likely route to achieve this goal.  Jude tells us to hurry up and get moving, since he can’t wait to have a new brother or sister as he is so ready and excited to be a big brother!

During our own childhoods, we were both the middle child of three and had close, loving and supportive relationships with our siblings. Although our families struggled financially when we were young, we had good childhoods and happy upbringings. We both excelled in our education, earned advanced degrees and went on to work in professional positions (a medical doctor and a scientist). With both of us now well-established in our careers, we are a financially-stable family and would love nothing more than to expand it with one more child. As a family, we currently enjoy a variety of different activities together including hiking, biking, swimming, sports, camping and traveling to new destinations near and far!

About Ray

Ray grew up with a curiosity about the world around him, so it was not surprising that he became a scientist. However, you might never guess this if you saw him joking around or playing with children as he loves to do. Ray is the athletic one in the family and is active in various sports and frequently exercises at his home gym. Since he is also motivated by environmental issues, he has a strong appreciation for spending time in nature, doing outdoor activities and encouraging others to do so as well. Although Ray’s mother passed away in 2020, his brother, sister, father and step-mother, all live in the Toronto area. Some of the greatest joys in Ray’s life are teaching Jude new skills like biking, skateboarding, hiking and canoeing; and helping him learn about our world.

About Kavitha

Kavitha knew that she wanted to be a doctor from a young age. As a child, she dreamed of helping others and lovingly looked after her pet birds and cats. She is now a caring doctor and an over-the-top loving mom. Although she still has remnants of her childhood nerdiness, her love of photography, music and dancing are much more apparent when you meet her today. Kavitha is a wonderful, loving and caring wife, mother, sister and daughter. She looks forward to the possibility of mothering another child, whether a boy or girl.

About Jude

Jude is a wonderful, energetic and loving child with a whole lot of personality! Although he is big and strong for his age, and is the tallest in his class at school, he is really a gentle giant. He is such a happy, easygoing and good-natured kid who loves to joke, cuddle and show affection. He constantly asks for a little brother or sister to play with and help take care of. It is abundantly clear that he will make a great big brother and he can’t wait for the chance to show it.

Our Home & Community

We live in a large 4-bedroom home in north Toronto on a beautiful ravine lot with untouched nature right in our backyard. With a distinctive cottage-like feeling, our home is a place of rest, peace and sanctuary for us. Our home is located in a friendly and diverse community that is close to schools, libraries and parks. Our location enables our family to spend a lot of time experiencing and enjoying nature in the adjacent greenspace, which includes abundant forests, rivers, trails and wildlife.

Our Thoughts about Parenting & Adoption

We are a multi-racial, multi-ethnic and multi-faith family that has learned to thrive with these differences.  We are open to expanding our family with a child ranging from 0-5 years old, coming from any background and would help the child fit into our family, yet also raise them to recognize and be proud of their roots. We have learned a lot about parenting by raising our first child, but of course we don’t claim to have all the answers. Every child will be different and it is important to recognize that and be responsive as parents to their individual needs and personality.

Growing up, both of us recognized the importance of siblings and the support that they can provide one another. The sibling bonds and support for each other is something that we want for our own children. Our family has a lot of love to give and we strongly feel that a genetic link is not needed for us to raise and unconditionally love another child. We really hope that we get the chance to expand our family through adoption.
