As we sit here and write this letter, our hearts are full of many emotions from excitement for the opportunity to start our family to empathy for the loving but difficult decision you are making.
We hope our profile gives you an idea of the life we would like to share with a child. Because Colin and I come from different nationalities and we love each other so deeply, we know that loving a child who is also from a different ethnic background would be so natural for both of us.

We met as teenagers while working at a local department store. Colin still remembers the first time he saw me. He made sure that every day he would find ways to take his break at the same time as mine. I remember feeling pretty quickly that Colin was the one for me.
Colin was born on the Caribbean island of Trinidad and his family moved to Canada when he was 13 years old. I was born in Canada to parents who emigrated from Greece.
Colin and I are both the youngest in our families. Colin has an older brother and sister, who can’t wait to be an uncle and aunt for the first time. And I also have an older brother and sister and four nieces and two nephews.
We both grew up in the Greater Toronto Area and have been around many different nationalities all of our lives. We promise that we will raise your child to know and love their culture. We will always respect your child’s background and we will honour their ethnicity as a family.
We are hoping to start our family through the miracle of adoption. We would be thrilled to welcome a child of any race or gender into our lives. Simply put…we’re super excited just to be parents.
What Stella Has to Say About Colin
Colin ALWAYS has the biggest smile on his face. He is a wonderful husband and partner and I feel lucky to have him in my life.
In all of the years I’ve known him, Colin never sweats the small stuff. He truly has a positive outlook on life and a strong faith that everything has a way of working out in the end.
He’s compassionate and yet strong. He’s loyal and honest. And he is always willing to lend a helping hand – even if he just met you. I know that he will make an awesome role model and dad.
What Colin Has to Say About Stella
Stella is the sweetest and most caring person I know…and she’s super fun too. She likes to sing in the car and dance around the house while she cleans. I knew right after we first met that I wanted her in my life forever. We found it easy to make each other laugh and we still do today.
Stella has a warm and friendly nature that makes it easy for her to meet people everywhere she goes. She is my biggest cheerleader and continually motivates me throughout my life. More than my wife, Stella is my best friend.
There is no doubt that she will be an amazing mother.
Respect and Kindness are two of the top values we will instill in our child. Respect for their elders, their parents and themselves. Respect for the environment and the world we live in too. Kindness in all of their interactions and towards all living things – people, plants and animals alike. We hope to teach both of these values by demonstrating them ourselves everyday in everything we do. We even have a big poster hanging in our kitchen that says: WORK HARD AND BE NICE TO PEOPLE … because those words make up a huge part of how we strive to live our lives.
Our Home & Community
We have a four-bedroom home in a suburban neighbourhood with wide streets that are lined with huge trees. Our home has a large backyard with lots of grassy space that is perfect for outdoor games and BBQ weekends.
Our neighbours are all super nice. You will always find strollers, joggers, bicycle-riders and people walking their dogs on the street. We even know many of our ‘furry neighbours’ by name.
There is a small park with a playground and soccer fields just steps from our front door. Also, within walking distance there are schools, a popular coffee shop and a cute ice cream shop. A community outdoor pool, several restaurants and two community centres with basketball nets, an ice hockey arena and tennis courts are all a bike ride or short drive away.
We live just blocks away from our city’s quaint Main Street. During the year, our community hosts several festivals including annual music and food truck festivals, as well as a Santa Claus parade, a tree lighting ceremony in the winter and a farmer’s market every weekend in the summer.
Living only a half hour drive away from a large metropolitan city allows us to visit the zoo, museums, see big-name concerts and attend professional sporting events often. (Go Raptors!)
Our Thoughts about Parenting & Adoption
’ve spent a lot of time around children all of my life. Coming from a big extended family that loves to gather for any and every occasion, it was just second nature to help with the younger family members. From feeding to ensuring their safety to sitting on the floor and playing, I literally spent time almost every day with my nieces and nephews until they started school which created strong bonds with all of them that has lasted through the years. Uncle Colin became an instant best buddy from literally the moment they first met. Maybe because Uncle Colin is always ready to toss a ball around or be a human bean bag where kids just jump on him and pile on.
Many people in both of our families and in our group of friends and neighbours have young children, so there are many playmates around. Not to mention, doting grandparents and aunts & uncles waiting to shower their attention on a new member of the family.
My parents live in our neighbourhood (only a couple of streets away) and are looking forward to daily visits and spending lots of time helping with our child. For Colin’s family, your child would be the first. The first grandchild, the first niece or nephew…and of course, our first child too.
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and for considering us as a family for your child. We admire your love and courage in considering an adoption plan for you and your baby.
If you choose us as adoptive parents, we will be forever grateful. We will share photos, provide milestone updates and invite you and your family to visit with ours. We will respect the level of openness you wish to have with us.
We promise that our home will be filled with love and laughter and that you will always have a place in our hearts and in our family.
