He was an all-star baseball player throughout his adolescence and teenage years but knew he really wanted to be a carpenter and own his own business. His journey has brought him to leading a team of professionals and improving the building industry to be more sustainable. On top of running The Conscious Builder, he also hosts a podcast and Youtube channel dedicated to educating industry leaders and homeowners around the world on how to build healthy, comfortable and efficient homes. Outside of work, he loves educating himself on technology, paddle boarding, snowboarding and getting out with his 1977 VW Van.
Natasha grew up in a close knit community outside Ottawa, ON. She has one brother and is an aunt to seven nieces and nephews. She completed her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology in California and moved back to Ottawa where she became a Child and Family Therapist. Natasha’s passion to empower and inspire people led her to write a children’s book, Everyday Superheroes. She continues to work with individuals and small groups to help them tap into their unlimited potential all while making sure she is home to take care of her family. Staying home in the early years is extremely important to her. Natasha loves to be in nature, going on hikes paddle boarding, kayaking, and spending time with her family and friends. Casey Talks About Natasha
I would not be the man I am today if it was not for Natasha. Natasha makes me a better person in every way. Natasha has the magic ability to make everybody feel like the most important person in the world; when she’s speaking to you, you are the most important person in the world, even if there’s a hundred people waiting for her. She puts her family as a top priority, especially Sullivan and I. Not only does she give us her time, but she puts countless hours into making sure we have only the best, most nourishing food for our bodies. She keeps us active and makes sure we always remember all the blessings in our lives. I cannot imagine going through this journey of life without her and consider myself to be the luckiest man on earth to have her by my side.
Natasha Talks About Casey
Casey is my best friend and partner in life. He is one of the most self-less humans I know. He is fun, funny and always makes the most out of life. He is the first one to help someone in need and is the guy everyone calls on when they need support. As a husband and life partner, he is always supporting me, encouraging me, seeing the best in me and always loving me unconditionally. As a father, Casey is dedicated to being the best role model and dad possible for his children and is always demonstrating his love and devotion. Casey is an intelligent, caring, thoughtful and kind man. He is an inspirational leader and cares deeply for his community and family, always making sure to keep up with his parents and six siblings, while still making time for his business, friends and neighbours.
Our Wedding Day
After seven years together, on September 1, 2012, we got married in the world’s largest log cabin, The Fairmont Chateau Montebello. Surrounded by the love and support of 110 of our closest family and friends, we said our vows and have never looked back. Now, after more than 16 years together, we love and respect each other more than ever. We look forward to many more decades together as this is still the beginning. Every day brings us closer together as we grow stronger and more connected. Every day we make a conscious decision to love each other and will not let anything break that promise we made on that perfect September day in 2012.
Sullivan is our eight year old son. We have loved every minute of being his mom and dad. He is a bright, funny, thoughtful, compassionate, loving little boy who is so excited to become a big brother. Our siblings are very important to us and we want Sullivan to have that experience through adoption. Having a sibling to love, care for, support and have fun with is what Sullivan will be incredible at!
Sullivan loves to swim, ski, bike, play soccer, watch movies and play with his friends and cousins. He also likes to help mom bake, help dad build and have family dance parties. He is so excited to become a big brother! He cannot wait to read bedtime stories to his sibling, teach his sibling how to ride a bike and make delicious smoothies and cookies!
As a family, we love to share new places, people and experiences together. We appreciate the beauty of the world and nature around us and soak in as much as we can each year. Whether it’s around our home, at our family cottage or a far off destination. Recently we had the opportunity to go to Puerto Rico, Florida and hiked/biked the many trails in Tremblant!
Our Home & Community
We live in a diverse, family oriented neighbourhood, with many parks, beaches and amusements within driving distance. Our home is two stories, has 4 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, an indoor pool and a large kitchen. Our favourite place in our house is our large family room because it is set up for family fun! A close tie, however, is our 5 acre property on the Rideau River where we have a pond with lots of frogs and wildlife to explore as well as a river in our backyard where we kayak, paddle board and swim in!
We LOVE the holidays! Holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and Birthdays are always honoured and celebrated with our family and friends. Family is very important to us so we spend as much time together as possible baking, decorating, stuffing the stockings and hosting family and friends.
One of our favourite things to do all year long is spend time at our family cottage in Calabogie. Things we love to do there include fishing, kayaking, boating, hiking, playing cards, boardgames, skating, snowshoeing, hiking and skiing. Roasting marshmallows by the campfire, building sand castles on the beach and swimming the day away are all special highlights . Memories on the lake last a lifetime and we love nothing more than to give those lake experiences to our children to cherish forever.
Our Thoughts about Parenting & Adoption
Adoption has always been something we knew we would do. We view adoption as an extension of ourselves and the love we can provide, including for the birth parents. Your child will develop and grow in the most nurturing, stimulating and loving environment. Their individual identity will shine as they will have the freedom to explore and be supported in all their interests and passions. Most importantly, they will be reminded of the love their birthparents have for them.
We are huge proponents of an open adoption. We will never be able to understand what you must be going through; to which, whatever you are comfortable with is what we will respect and do moving forward. Whatever you need to feel peace in your heart, is what we will do. In the event open adoption is not something you are interested in, we understand and will respect your wishes for that as well.
We are very appreciative that you would consider us as parents to your baby. We trust this has given you a glimpse of who we are and what we have to share. Whatever your final decision is, we honour it and we honour you.
With love and deep respect,
Casey, Natasha and Sullivan
