We are Jacob and Makayla, a fun, loving and young couple who are looking forward to this journey of adoption. We greatly appreciate you taking time to read a little bit about us and our life. We both understand that this may very well be the hardest decision you have had to make and we want nothing more than to make you feel at ease and supported during this time. Both of us love being the fun aunt and uncle, but we are so excited to be able to start our own family! There is nothing more in this world that we want than to give a loving and nurturing home to a child to adore and cherish. We hope that you get a good glimpse into our life below, and if you would like to know us better, we welcome you to contact us.
We are hoping that you find strength and peace of mind during this process!

I come from a very large and close family and am the youngest of 9 children. Growing up, family was, and still is, the centre of my life. From the time I could walk, I began dance classes. I have now moved on from taking classes to teaching dance to kids of all ages! I love helping kids of all ages explore something they enjoy doing and teach them to express themselves through dance. I became an aunt at the age of 9, and since then I have gained 9 more beautiful nieces and nephews, who both Jacob and I adore so much. I have always dreamed of the day I can become a mom and have a child/ren to love and cherish myself.
I work as a Registered Practical Nurse which is something I love to do. I work at a nursing/retirement home and love being able to personally know all of my residents and take care of them. Although I love being a nurse, I have been taking classes online towards becoming a school teacher. Teaching and nursing are both passions of mine, and I have decided that becoming a teacher will allow me to have a better schedule to raise a family and spend the most amount of time with them!
Like Makayla, I come from a very large, close and faith-filled family. I have an older and younger sister, as well as 3 more younger brothers who were adopted when I was 6 years old. I have over 20 cousins that I grew up very close to and spend lots of time with! My entire family is very faithful and we always grew up going to church on Sundays and having Sunday dinner at my grandpas. I have always looked at the positives in life, since I was born with a condition known as Cystic Fibrosis. This condition affects certain systems in my body, mainly my respiratory system. My condition sounds a bit scary, and was more so in the past, but this year I was blessed to start a new life-saving medication that has improved my health beyond what I thought possible! I am the healthiest now than I have ever been and only plan to get better as we start our little family. There is nothing more that I want then to become a dad and raise a family in faith, love and happiness.
I went to school to become a Developmental Service Worker and have worked in several group homes, working with individuals with autism, down syndrome and other conditions. As much I love working with individuals in theirs homes, I have always wanted to work with children in schools so I recently began working as as Educational Assistant at the school board to follow my passion for helping kids succeed, which has been the most amazing job!
My Husband, Jacob – written by Makayla
Jacob is a super goofy, loving and caring man, who puts everything and everyone before himself. As you know, Jacob was born with a genetic condition known as CF, but he never lets it slow him down. He never fails to amaze anyone with the strength and persistence he has in staying healthy. Along with those qualities, Jacob has the most positive outlook on life. He is someone that I admired since the moment I met him with his faith-filled, humorous, and giving personality. Jacob is absolutely amazing with all of our nieces and nephews…whenever we see them, it’s instantly “Jacob! Jacob!”. He never fails to make a child smile and feel special. Jacob is truly meant to be a father and I am so excited to see him be able to live that dream of his through. He has such a big heart and I have no doubt in my mind that he will love your baby with every ounce of him.
My Wife, Makayla – written by Jacob
Makayla is an extremely caring, dedicated, fun and positive person. She never fails to light up a room and can strike up a conversation with anyone she meets because she is so outgoing. This was quickly apparent when she immediately fit in to my large and loud family. She is that person that is always quick to try and make the best of any situation thrown her way, even if’s an activity out of her comfort zone like basketball with my many competitive cousins. Makayla comes from a family of caregivers which is so clear to see, as this is her strongest trait. With my CF, a cold may hit me a lot harder than others and she is always right there to take care of me and pick up my slack with no complaints. Makayla has a gift with children, and I see this with every child she interacts with, including our nieces and nephews and all my younger cousins. When seeing her with any baby or kid, there is no question she will make an amazing mother. Being a mom and starting a family has been Makayla’s biggest goal since the start of our relationship and I am 100% confident that she will use her amazing traits and skills to be the best mother she can be.
Jacob & Makayla
We have been together for 5 years now and got married just over a year ago. We are a fun couple who love to stay active all year long by going skiing, playing beach volleyball, skateboarding and working out. We share the same faith and beliefs which we believe makes us such a strong couple. We love enjoying coffee on the deck in the summer, looking out at the lake, and spending cold winters by the fireplace watching Sunday football! We both love spending time with kids and have dreamed about becoming parents in our early 20s so that we can spend as much time as we can with our children. There is nothing we look forward to more than welcoming a bundle of joy into our life to expand our family and add to the cousin crew.
Our Home & Community
We live along Lake Erie in a 2 story home that has a second-level deck that overlooks the lake in front of our house and the bay behind our house! It is an extremely cozy, cottagey home with 3 bedrooms, one right next to ours which will be the nursery. We have a fully fenced in yard at the side of our house that has lots of room to play and have fun. Across the street from our home is access to the beach and we always enjoy walking along it and spending summer days over there! There are schools less than 15 minutes from our home in a slightly bigger town than ours. Our little town is very small and mainly filled with cottages and is more populated during the summer months, but still has young families with kids to play with year-round. In our town there is a park down the road on the public beach, trails to go exploring and a beautiful pier where you can watch the boats pass by coming in and out of the marina.
Our Thoughts about Parenting & Adoption
Although we don’t have any personal experience as parents, we are more than prepared to become first-time parents and give all of our love to a little one. We have always known that adoption was a journey we wanted to take to have children, and we hope we can raise a child knowing how loved they truly are, by not only us, but by you as well. It takes such strength and courage to choose adoption as the path for your baby, and we admire that tremendously.
Because family is such an important aspect of our lives, we want to make sure your child grows up knowing as much as possible about their background and you! We feel that an open adoption is something that is so important to your child’s upbringing and we would love for you to stay in contact however much is comfortable for you! We can only imagine the feelings that you will be experiencing after the placement of your baby with us, and we want to make you feel at ease knowing we want you apart of our lives as much as you want to be, but if you also feel that an open adoption is too difficult for you, we will certainly respect that as well.
Our Promise to You
We have been so excited and dreaming about the day we can welcome a little one into our life and adoption is the journey we have taken to do this. Your child will always know what it feels like to be loved and adored by us. They will never forget their roots and where their story began with you, as it is what makes them special. We want to sincerely extend our gratitude for reading our profile as you embark on your own journey. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you would like to get to know us more or have any questions. We hope nothing but a smooth and healthy pregnancy for you and your little one!
With much gratitude,
Jacob & Makayla
