We are Hannah and Evan, and we thank you for taking the time to learn more about our family. Thank you for considering us to potentially raise your child. We are so excited to be adopting and bringing a child into our family!

We hope our story will help you in making your choice. Please know that no matter what decision you make, we wish you and your child all the best. We hope this book gives you a glimpse into our lives and look forward to meeting you.

We have always dreamed about being parents and raising a family together. For a long time, we have been envisioning a day when we will be able to bring a child home.

As an adoptee and hopeful adoptive parents, we know how important it is for a child to know where they came from and who is part of their birth family.

About Us

Evan and I met in the fall of 2013. After chatting online for a few weeks, we went bowling and saw a movie for our first date. Soon, we were spending most of our free time together.

At the end of summer 2014, we decided to take a big step and move in together. That November, Evan and I welcomed a puppy named Pekoe. Thankfully, the dog and cat got along well.

In March 2015, we went to Florida for a quick vacation and Evan proposed! Of course, I said yes.

We started planning our wedding for June 2016. We got married at my parent’s cottage. The day was perfect, as we were surrounded by friends and family. Before we got married, we knew we wanted a family and began our journey toward that goal.

After 4 years of unsuccessful fertility treatments and multiple losses, we are at a point in our life where we have opened our hearts and are ready to share our unconditional love through the miracle of adoption.

How Hannah thinks of Evan

Evan is a big sweetheart. He is a gentle giant who is practically a walking encyclopedia. He is extremely caring and loving and always wants me to be happy.

He is someone I can be silly or serious with. He is perfect when I need a good cuddle. Over the past four years of marriage we have grown closer together as we struggled to start our family.

He is a big softy (in the best possible way) around kids and his pets. He wants to be a father so badly and I know he will love our kids so much. I know he can’t wait to have a child to teach all about music and sports.

Evan talks through his thoughts and feelings (which I am still getting used to at times), but because of this he is a completely open book.

If you have any sports questions, especially about Baseball or Hockey – Evan is your guy!

But, he is my husband and I am so proud of him and can’t wait to see him as a father..

How Evan thinks of Hannah

Hannah is a lady with a huge heart, who has a tremendous capacity to care for, nurture and have fun with animals, children and the elderly. I know she’d put that same capacity toward children of our own.

When it has to be done, Hannah can be very organized and plan very well. She puts in a ton of research, time and energy into a project she is passionate about and that’s certainly been the case in our infertility struggles and this adoption journey.

Hannah has a deep desire to be a mother and has been very perseverant and brave considering all the obstacles thrown her way. Most people might have given up long before and most would not be so good at getting back on their feet again to keep on trying.

Hannah has uniquely strong senses of smell and taste, which makes her a real expert at her job of being a tea taster/master tea flavourist.

While Hannah takes life seriously and doesn’t share love for most of the comedy shows that I love, she is still a very funny person. She’s a big kid at heart and most people who know her are always enamoured by her fun-loving personality.

Hannah got Toby after having her tonsils removed in 2013.

He loves catnip and chasing ribbons.

Toby is a cuddle bug and has earned the nickname “Smoosh”.

Pekoe came home in fall 2014.

She is a very happy dog who loves ear scratches and belly rubs.

She’s always happy to meet new people and rather than wagging her tail, she wags her whole body.

Her favourite game is fetch.

Pekoe’s nickname is “Pupperoni” or “Peekie Deekie Doo”

He loves when he can visit the cottage and bird watch all day long.

Our Home & Community

We live on a quiet street close to the lake and many parks. There is even a small playground right down the street from us. Our home is a three story townhouse with 3 large bedrooms and a finished basement. We have a small backyard with a cherry tree that blossoms every spring.

We are very close to a number of parks, playgrounds and libraries. We often go for walks by the lake.

Hannah’s parents also live nearby and have a pool which is great for the hot summer days!

We have a train station nearby so we can get downtown to many museums and entertainment venues easily and quickly.

Our Thoughts about Parenting & Adoption

Hannah was born to a young mother who made a very thoughtful and heartfelt decision to make an adoption plan for her baby. She was placed 2 weeks later with her forever family.

Two years later, Hannah’s parents adopted again – a little brother.

In Hannah’s family, 4 out of 9 cousins are adopted! Her family would all welcome the next generation of adoption with open arms.

During her time at university, Hannah decided to begin the search for her birth family. She met her birth mom and found out she had a baby half sister! They continue to visit each other and Tessa, her sister, was even a flower girl in their wedding. They now enjoy regular contact.

Hannah understands adoption on many levels and will be able to support a child when questions come up.

We look forward to an open adoption – to sharing photos, art projects and milestones with you through a private website. And, we welcome visits with you to the extent you feel most comfortable. We will honour our commitment to stay in touch.

Closing Thoughts

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us, we understand you have some important decisions to make right now, and that you will make the best plan for your child. We hope this book gives you a look at our lives and how a child would be cherished in our family.

Our most important promise is…….we will love your child unconditionally and raise them to be a strong and proud individual.
