Hello,

We are Ramona, Paul, Taylor and Jaxon. We are honored you are taking the time to see if we are the right fit as a family! Just like a good running shoe, it must feel good the minute you try it on; comfortable, dependable and above all else…able to go the distance!

Why Adoption?
Paul and I suffered secondary infertility after Jaxon was born. We longed for a sibling closer to Jaxon’s age as we endured multiple miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy. It was Thanksgiving 2006 when we learned we were pregnant with twins. The days that followed were filled with sheer euphoria. Sadly, everything would change. It was Friday the 13th when I lost my babies, my dreams, my uterus and nearly my life! You see, I was home alone when my uterus ruptured. Paul rushed home from work to find me nearly unconscious as he scrambled to call 911.

In the frantic moments in the back of the ambulance, I recall thinking, my husband needs a wife and my children need their mother. I knew I had a reason to fight and I held on! After two operations, eight units of blood and a recovery in the Intensive Care Unit, I knew my body would one day, mend….It was my heart, that would be forever changed.

"Sometimes our most difficult times in life are simply and invitation to a new journey…a journey we would never have had the courage to take unless forced to do so." Amazingly, through our tears, frustrations and prayers, we have confronted the challenges and heartache that comes from letting a baby go. While we may not completely understand your circumstances, we certainly know that life doesn’t always go as planned!

Paul about Ramona
Ramona is a very determined individual. She is devoted to our children and always has their best interests in mind. For example, she made arrangements to stand in line overnight so Jaxon could attend a reputable and nurturing preschool. She also tries to make events really fun, like making me dress up for one of Jaxon’s birthday parties as Elmo. That big red furry suit was hot! Before kids, Ramona always volunteered to work the holidays, so other nurses could be home with their kids on Christmas morning. Family is very important to her.

As an Operating Room Nurse, Ramona has done her share of shift work.  That is all behind her now as she works only one day per week in a doctor’s office. She didn’t want to miss the first day of school, a trip to the park on a sunny afternoon or a date for lunch with her son. Ramona has always encouraged and supported me. She is an exceptional mother and wife. One of the most touching moments for me was when Ramona and Taylor walked hand in hand down the aisle at our wedding in Puerto Vallarta. As we said our vows on the point, we witnessed a whale breeching, which locals say is a symbol of good luck!

Ramona about Paul
Paul is the kind of guy who is always smiling and joking. He never gets uptight about anything and handles himself in a calm, confident manner. I suppose this is what makes him an exceptional firefighter. He also has a soft heart. One of his first high angle rescues was the safe return of a Golden Lab. which fell down a rather steep embankment. Paul repelled down the cliff and secured him in a basket which was later lifted to safety.

He is the kind of person who rescues insects found in the house in the summer months and sets them free. This exemplifies his kind nature, which I love so much. Paul is also very competitive. He loves soccer; playing it, watching it, talking about it!! You get the idea! He can also be very silly. At night, I can hear the voices of Spongebob Squarepants and Mater from Cars, as Paul reads to Jaxon. He has a very sensible approach to most things and people love to be around his good nature. He is not only my confidante and my soul mate, he is my best friend!

Our Kids
Taylor is my 14-year-old stepdaughter. She describes herself as a huge Harry Potter fan. She enjoys reading, drama and watching movies but her passion is singing. She is a huge Avril Lavigne fan and even has her four-year-old brother singing, "I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend." Taylor has completed the babysitting course and is keen to look after her, “Little Brother, from another Mother," (as she so eloquently, puts it). Taylor tells me she is very excited with the prospect of becoming a big sister to another sibling.

Jaxon is a busy four-year-old boy. He would be happy to share his cars, super heroes and hockey gear with you. He would tell you how he loves Tim Horton timbits, especially after swimming, skating or karate lessons. Jaxon would be eager to tell you about his trip to Disneyland last summer where he was able to go on the "big boy" rides, after "Mama" put lifts in his shoes to make the 42 inch height requirement. He would also inform you that his favorite ride was Pirates of the Caribbean, which was decided as this year’s birthday theme.

Where We live
"Home is where everybody’s story begins." Our home is one we designed and built ourselves. We live in Delta, close to beaches and parks. This community offers wonderful, organized activities which keeps us busy and fit. As a family, we enjoy walks with our dog, biking and kicking a soccer ball around in the back yard. We also like to frequent the local recreation center for family swimming and skating. The children have made many friends in this community and we have developed an amazing support system here.

Our Parting Thoughts
Our sincere hope is that you find peace in your decision. If we are blessed with your precious gift, we promise to honor you as our child’s birthmother and give your child a positive understanding of adoption. We draw some experience on this matter from Ramona’s best friend who was adopted at birth and from a family we befriend, currently raising two, young adopted children of their own.

We are a loving blended family. Both Taylor and Jaxon have their own unique beginnings and their own story to tell. We encourage and respect their differences just as we would your child’s. Your baby would be embraced by us all; loved, nurtured and respected. We are comfortable with an open adoption, however, we will also respect your privacy if you choose to move forward in your life in a new direction. Thank you for the privilege of your consideration.

Ramona, Paul, Taylor and Jaxon.
