Hello,
You must have so much on your mind right now. We understand your dilemma and care about your feelings. Wanting the best for your child is the reason for this process. These decisions are borne of love. If you should entrust us with your child we would not disappoint you. We promise to provide financially for the child, to pay special care to emotions and health, and most importantly to love and respect them.
We would be happy to nurture your connection with your child, if that is your wish. My scrapbooking tendencies result in many photos and diarized accounts of life as it happens, so you will not miss a moment. If a greater degree of closeness is desired, that is fine also. Together we can craft a relationship that is beneficial to all of us, and most importantly your child. All for one and one for all! (Possibly I have seen too many movies, as this is borrowed from “The Three Musketeers”, I think. Oh well, the thought works.)
About Us
Well, hockey brought us together and our athletic pursuits continue to keep us healthy, happy and full of energy. Our sense of fun finds us playing cards or games, almost daily.
We both love to travel and explore, and have been to Europe, Australia, Hawaii, and Cuba, to name a few places. Four years ago were married on the island of Antigua, West Indies. Ah, the allure of travel, but there really is no place like home!
On the family front, we are already the proud parents of Sherwood and Bauer, our Great Dane-Shepherd cross dogs (brothers) whom we love and spend lots of time with. They enjoy walks in the woods, swimming, fetching (and treats, of course). They are gentle and friendly in nature, and the neighbourhood children are fascinated by them.
Still, we long to be parents to children as well. Infertility has prevented us from conceiving a child. Adoption will allow us to form our family. We look at adoption as no less than having a biological child to care for. It is, simply, loving another.
Our home life will never be dull, but will certainly offer a loving, safe and happy place for a child to grow up in. As family and friends are important to us, get-togethers will take place regularly, and boy do we like to celebrate!
Liana (in Doug’s words)
Liana used to teach school and now keeps busy with her work as an Insurance Broker and tending to house and garden (and me). She is creative and playful, often singing happy songs to our dogs. At times like these I envision her comforting an anxious or weary child.
She has transformed from a tomboy to a beautiful woman, who is very adept in the kitchen (she even bakes dog biscuits for our spoiled boys!). “Auntie” Liana is a favourite amongst her niece and nephew’s. Her ever-thoughtful gifts and eagerness to take the kids out to a movie make her a very special person to them.
Liana has made our house into a home with her talent for decorating. Whatever she chooses to undertake, you can be sure that she will put her whole heart into it. Liana is a loving wife, and I know that she will be a content and wonderful “stay-at-home” Mom.
Doug (in Liana’s words)
Man of my dreams! Doug is very handy and if anything breaks down, he fixes it. He is always eager to tackle a project, and has built a beautiful deck for us with his own two hands.
He is smart too (and did I mention handsome?). Doug completed his B.Sc. Degree to become a Forester, and is employed as a superintendent at the local pulp mill. He works hard but keeps a healthy balance between home and work. I really appreciate this.
Doug is outstanding with children. He never fails to notice them and give them his attention, even in a sea of adults. You can see in their smiling faces how important and valued he makes them feel. He becomes the cheering fan at hockey games for our niece and nephews, always wanting to support their efforts. And he always has time for me. I love that! He will make a wonderful father.
Our Home
We live in a small, northern BC town filled with natural beauty and many activities to enjoy. Our new home resides in a safe neighbourhood, one where people take pride in their gardens and surroundings. It is a comfortable three-bedroom, two-bathroom home with a fully-finished basement and a large backyard with wrap-around deck. There is a park with play apparatus around the corner, which makes it easy to socialize with other mothers and their children.
Parenting Views
We are thrilled to become parents! Your child will receive lots of attention, as family time is a priority. Above all, they will know that we love and care for them, and will provide them with lots of opportunity to grow and learn. The respect and love we show for our child and each other will teach them self-love and care for others.
We know that our role as adoptive parents will have its share of challenges too, and that we will make mistakes. You have our word that difficult situations will be handled with gentle kindness.
Thank you for taking the time to read our information. Our baby room sits ready, waiting for a special soul to fill the void. Boy or girl, skin color beautiful in any shade, a unique and precious gift from God.
We have nothing but respect for you and your decision, as you want the best for your child. We wish you well in the days ahead.
Warmest Wishes,
Liana & Doug
