Thank you for taking the time to look through our family profile to consider us as a possible family for your baby.
It is with hopeful hearts and much anxiety that we enter again this world of adoption, afraid to believe we could be blessed a second time to join hands and hearts with a birth family to build our unique and beautiful family through the miracle of adoption.
We can never truly know your struggle and pain as you make plans to find the right family to raise your baby. But we do know not a day will go by that we will not think of you and your great sacrifice, your precious gift of life and love to your child and to us. You will always have a special place in our hearts.
Our promise to you is that your child will be raised knowing the truth about the incredible way we became a family through you. Your child will forever be encircled by love from the two families that have joined hands, bound together through the love of one child.
We would like to share with you a small glimpse into our lives and to help answer some questions about who we are.
About Us
We are a genuine, warm Canadian family that has been married for 20 years and have been blessed with one beautiful daughter home through adoption in January 2006 from Georgia, U.S.A. We have a stable and loving relationship, we are each other's best friends. We live in a country home, surrounded by family and friends and enjoy a financially comfortable life. Our days are spent parenting and having fun with Marissa celebrating every milestone she has. We love spending time with extended family, talking, sharing, working, going to movies, going for family walks, hobbies, doing outdoor activities and renovating our house.
Our Beliefs about Children
We believe that children are sacred, wonderful blessings. They are to be loved, cherished and respected they should always feel safe and secure. We will encourage our children to grow and blossom at their own pace and be loved for their individuality. Experiencing life through our daughter Marissa's eyes has been a remarkable adventure; it's like seeing the world for the first time. We look forward to sharing our life and love in a nurturing way with another child.
Janel
I am a warm compassionate, sensitive, nurturing person that enjoys a good laugh. Now that I am a mom, parenting Marissa is most important to me my days are filled with her care. We have fun playing in our backyard on her swing set, or taking her to the lake. She loves to sit with me curled up on our lazy-boy chair while I read a book to her. I love every minute of parenthood. In my spare moments I enjoy yoga, scrapbooking, bowling, fishing and doing crafts. I love talking with my sister and mom and staying connected with Pete. Some things that bring joy to my life are: close relationships and spending time with my family and friends. I love hearing my daughter call me mommy and the sounds of her giggling when we are playing together.
Pete
I am an easy going person, confident, self motivated and gentle with a good sense of humor. Since the arrival of our daughter Marissa my priorities have been rearranged -- for the better, of course. I love being a dad. Marissa is the centre of our lives; the needs of my family come first. Some of the hobbies I enjoy are fishing, snowmobiling, golfing, working with my hands inventing things and renovating our house. Some of the things that bring joy to my life are: doing fun activities with my family, getting big hugs and kisses from Marissa and playing with our pets.
Marissa
I am an energetic, funny, happy, loving 20 month old baby girl who enjoys lots of hugs, kisses and tickles from my mommy, daddy and grandma. I like to play with toys that make music so I can dance, look at books, ride my Dora car and play with my pets. I really love it when my cousins come to play with me on my swing set and chase bubbles outside. I have fun playing with mommy and friends when we go to Munchkin Music class we play with toys make crafts listen to music and sings songs. My mommy keeps in contact with my Tummy Mommy with lots of pictures and long letters she tells her every detail about my wonderful life.
Our Relationship with Extended Family
We spend a lot of time with our family. Pete is the youngest of five boys and Janel has one older sister. We have 14 nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews, we take them camping, swimming, bowling and to the movies. We make time to attend a baseball game or watch a violin concert. We get together for supper and game night, sharing the evening with extended family. There is always a house full of children. Marissa has fun playing with her cousins. We are a close-knit family and enjoy spending time together. Some of our family members have also brought their children home through adoption. Our family is waiting anxiously with us for another child to come into our lives.
Our Fur Babies
Pets have always played an important roll in our lives. We both grew up enjoying the companionship of animals. Currently we have three cats, Tigger, Bobbie and Bosco and two dogs, Cazzlow and Boe. They are so gentle with Marissa she is always giving them hugs and kisses.
Our Occupations
Pete has successfully owned and operated his own contracting and consulting business for 16 years, specializing in spray on concrete. He has designed and built specialized robotic equipment, which he does at home in his shop, he has flexible hours. Pete is jack of all trades, skilled at welding, carpentry, mechanics, electrical work and operating large equipment. Janel enjoys being a full time stay-at-home mom and home maker. She has graduated from high school and has taken various courses at a local college. She has worked outside the home, but chooses to be home full time to parent and to do the things she has dreamt of doing with her family.
Where We Live
We live in beautiful British Columbia. Our home is situated on 160 acres of treed land, in a rural area. We are close to schools and stores and a solid active community center, with family living right next door. We have recently added a large addition to our living space and are hoping to finish our kitchen soon. Our home has three bedrooms, a large bright kitchen with an island, great for eating snacks, or making cookies, a dining room, large family room, laundry area, a bathroom, a large sundeck facing the backyard and a covered sun deck on the front, facing the seasonal creek. We enjoy the scenery, privacy and wildlife our country home provides. We walk almost every day in the summer, and enjoy snowmobiling right outside our front door in the winter. Our children will have lots of room to run and play.
Why Adopt
Our greatest desire and passion for children in our lives leads us once again to adoption. We have struggled through 12 years of infertility and loss, and have come to accept and celebrate adoption as our way of growing our family. The blessing of Marissa in our lives has intensified our desire to have more children. It was never our plan to only have one child. We have strong bonds with our brothers and sisters and wish Marissa the joy of growing up with the same love and family ties. Parenting Marissa has brought immeasurable peace and joy to our lives we can't wait to embark on this journey again.
Your baby will be welcomed home to open hearts and loving arms, waiting to embark on a wondrous journey sharing our life and love. We are a warm, caring family with a devoted stay-at-home mom, an energetic, involved dad, a happy affectionate big sister and a supportive extended family. We want you to know that you will never have to doubt our love and commitment to your child.
