Simple Happy Lives – by us both
Together, the two of us live a simple happy life. We are a team, and we always work together to make each other’s lives better. The person who arrives home first cooks our dinner, which we always eat together, and our evenings are usually spent relaxing and watching television or chatting together.
On weekends, we enjoy sunny mornings, making breakfast together and relaxing in the back yard or doing household projects. We regularly have plans to see family and friends. On Sunday, we do the grocery shopping and enjoy the day. Pretty simple, eh?
What we really want, though, is the chaos of raising a child. The toys all over the house. The laughter. The sounds of cartoons too early in the morning. Children’s music drifting through an open window in the summer. Back yard swing sets. Even the wail of a child who has dropped their ice cream cone. We are ready! We want it!
Our Families – by both of us
We both grew up in close-knit Portuguese families.
Frank is the baby of his family, with 2 older siblings. He was born and raised in London, Ontario, where his brother and parents still reside. His sister lives 10 minutes away from us in Brampton. We spend as much time as we can with Frank’s family, and we love them dearly.
Vanessa is the middle child of 2 siblings, born and raised in Cambridge, Ontario. Her family now lives in the Guelph area. Vanessa is especially close to her sister and her niece and nephew. We are active in their lives, and we FaceTime with them constantly.
Family Support and Love
We are very close to both of our families. They were so excited when we told them that we will be adding to our family through adoption. Seriously, every single member of our family is totally on board with our plans to adopt a baby. Each grandparent talks excitedly about meeting you too. Everyone is so supportive; it has been really wonderful! We have good families – good, loving, considerate families.
Our Home – by Vanessa
We live in a relaxed but beautiful 4-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home. It’s a very comfortable and welcoming home. We love that over the past nine years together, we have made many renovations to make it our own. We ripped out the carpet and replaced it with engineered hardwood, and we sanded down the cherry wood staircase and changed it to a piano staircase with wrought iron (Frank and my dad did all the work themselves), as well as a million other things. The love we have put into our home makes it extra special to us.
Perhaps our favourite part of our home is the outside space. We have a large back yard that backs onto green space, which would be perfect for raising a child. In the summer months, we spend a lot of time outside, making the yard look pretty, planting veggies and enjoying time together on our large deck. It’s a relaxing and spacious back yard that smells of fresh flowers and has butterflies flitting about while the bees buzz.
Our Godchildren – by Vanessa
We have two amazing godchildren, Gage and Mila.
Gage is 6 years old and the most kind-hearted, gentle kid you will ever meet. Gage is the sweetest. He is always telling us how much he loves us, and if he receives a gift from us, he’s always thanking us. Gage loves to cuddle with Vanessa. He will make an awesome best friend cousin for your child. He’s just the sweetest!
Mila was born in June 2017. She’s a tiny little thing, but ohhh sooo sassy (which we love)! She loves to dance and has quite the talent for a little one – always on beat! Lately, she’s always so mesmerized by Frank, staring at him and smiling, but if he talks to her, she gets very shy. It’s so cute!

English & Portuguese – by Vanessa
We are both fully fluent in Portuguese. Of course we would love to give this gift to your child – the gift of a second language. When young children hear their parents speaking to them in another language, they automatically pick it up … an easy way to learn, if you ask us! And having two languages really opens up a wealth of opportunities later in life as well.
Being Portuguese is rather fun. We love Portuguese foods, and we are kind of obsessed with the music too. I personally love the sweets, like Portuguese custards and donuts. Frank loves the Portuguese chicken, potatoes and rice. It’s a good life!
Bella & Lily – by Frankie
We have two Chihuahuas, Bella & Lily.
Bella is a brown and 10 years old, and she loves going for walks or cuddling on the couch, watching TV. She loves being wrapped in a blanket, and sometimes we bundle her up and laugh so hard.
Lily is white and 9 years old. She also loves her walks and cuddles. Lily is funny. If one of us is dancing in the house, Lily wants to be held so she can dance with us. Just funny creatures, both of them.
Travel
We love to travel and make memories together. Relaxing and spending time together is something that is important to us, as is building memories as a family, which is why we believe children should come on holidays with their parents. We have been to Dominican Republic, Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, New York and Portugal, but our last trip (to Cuba with our niece and nephew) was the best holiday we’ve ever had. Your child will come on all our travel adventures with us, making memories as happy family!
Faith – by Frank
We were both raised as Roman Catholics and we continue to practise our Roman Catholic faith. Honestly though, we only attend church now on special occasions, but we do plan to baptize the child we adopt and teach them about being Catholic.
Why Adoption – by Frank
We have always wanted to have children together. Obviously we had some complications and are unable to have biological children. Sure, the challenges of infertility were hard, but honestly, all the struggles made us closer and stronger as a couple. So here we are now, hoping that through adoption, we can finally become a Mom and Dad to a little human being.
Open Adoption – by us both
We are comfortable with having a fully open adoption with you and your family members. Let’s exchange phone numbers, email addresses, text each other and have regular visits. We are excited about being parents, and we want you to be happy that you picked us. We want this adoption and the relationship between our families to be comfortable and relaxed.
We also understand the benefits of talking to our child about adoption right from the very beginning. We heard someone say that if a child can remember being told they were adopted, then the parents waited too long to tell them. It is important to us to let your child have a sense of truly belonging to two families: their adoptive family and their biological one. How wonderful!
