We are Clark and Tara, a fun-loving adventurous couple living in Toronto, Ontario. Thank you for taking the time to read our profile and for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We recognize that this is a difficult decision for you to make and we hope our profile gives you a glimpse into who we are, what our lives are like and how your child would fit into it.
Our story began through an online dating site in 2011. We clicked right away over a game of Guess Who in a board game café, strawberry milkshakes, and seeing a band at the Horseshoe Tavern. After 4 years of dating, we married in a barn in Exeter, Ontario surrounded by family and friends.
As a couple we share similar interests of being active, attending sporting events, enjoying good food, seeing live music, stand-up comedy (we love to laugh), dressing up for Halloween, trying new things, and travelling, whether it’s a two week vacation or a weekend road-trip.
Over the spring/summer time, we like to be outdoors, whether it is cycling or hiking, going to a cottage, or to a festival. In the fall/winter, we like to carve pumpkins, decorate for the holidays, and go ice skating. These are just some of the many activities we hope to share with your child.
After trying to conceive biologically and through fertility treatments, we are excited to build our family through adoption. We are ready to be the best parents we can possibly be.
When I first met Clark, he shared a picture of himself dressed up as Bob Ross (the painter on the television show The Joy of Painting) for Halloween. I knew in that moment that I wanted to know more about the guy with a big smile and a great sense of humour.
After 8 years together, I can say that Clark is the same person I met on day one. He is genuine, easy going, friendly, rational, and intelligent. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of random facts he knows.
Clark enjoys both playing and watching sports. As an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan, Clark and I attend games whenever we can. He stays active by playing co-ed softball a couple times a week during the spring/summer months, and playing ball-hockey during the winter. His other interests include photography, reading, and cycling.
Clark works as a Business Development Manager and travels within Canada and the United States twice a month. He is a people person and has built many strong friendships with people through school, organized sports, and work. His witty personality coupled with his ability to make others laugh, led me to enroll him (as a gift for Christmas) in a comedy writing class. He has even performed live comedy on several occasions.
As the fun uncle, Clark loves to make my nephews and niece laugh. The boys love to play video games with Clark and watch sports; and my niece likes to play games including hide and seek. I can’t wait to see Clark as a father.
It’s in Tara’s DNA to be happy and always have a smile on her face. Tara has the ability to walk into a room full of strangers at an event and by night’s end; she’s made friends with everyone. People tend to gravitate towards her outgoing personality.
Tara has a work-hard play-hard attitude when it comes to her role as Supervisor Capital Projects for the Municipal Government. She is very adventurous, outgoing and athletic, challenging herself to try new things like snowshoe running, kickboxing or the Tough Mudder. When with her family, she’s always engaged with her nephews ready to grab a ball-glove to play catch or grab a stick to play ball-hockey.
What I love the most about Tara is her sense of humour, ensuring there is never a dull moment. I’ve never met anyone as excited as Tara to stand up, sing and dance during the seventh inning stretch at a Blue Jays game.
With Tara’s zest for life and many attributes, I know Tara will make an excellent mother. Being so close to her family, it’s been a blessing watching her over the years interact with her brother’s children.
We live in a new family friendly townhouse complex in the west end of Toronto that is within walking distance of the waterfront, several parks with playgrounds and a splash pad area, recreation centres including an arena and outdoor pool, a trail network, elementary schools, a public library, shops and restaurants.
Both of us have very loving and supportive families that will welcome a child into their lives. Between us we have two sisters, one brother, 2 nephews, and 1 niece. Our support system also includes Tara’s mom who lives close by in Mississauga and Clark’s mom in Sarnia. We do not have any pets of our own but love Flynn and Kessel, Tara’s sister’s and brother’s Golden Retriever and Chocolate Labrador.
Growing up we were both fortunate for family vacations, organized sports, road trips, traditions such as Canada Day Olympics, family dinners, and celebrating occasions and holidays.
We think being present and spending quality time is important for a family and we hope to share the same values that we were raised with, with your child.
Together we want to raise a child in a happy, secure, fun, loving environment. Structure is important as well as open communication and honesty. We strongly support education and will encourage learning through play and experiences. We are non‐practicing Lutheran and Catholic but will support the religion for a child if already identified and/or expose them to World Religions and teach him or her about having good values and openness to faith and spirituality. We will expose your child to sports, music, and art and allow them to develop any interests they may have. Above all, we will love your child unconditionally and ensure their mental, physical and emotional well-being.
We believe in open adoption and would be flexible with your preferences for a relationship and/or contact.
If you would like to know more about us or have any questions please feel free to contact us through email or through our adoption practitioner.
