Dear Expectant Parent(s),
We would like to thank you for reading our profile and are honored to be considered as adoptive parents to your special child. We are Rebecca and Jeff and we have been married for 9 years and together for 14 years. Together we have a lovely daughter Alexandria who is 6 years old. We hope that through this profile, you will be able to see the love we have for each other, our families, and your future child. We are excited to grow our family and to welcome your child into our home should you chose us.
We were both born and raised in Ontario, Canada. Rebecca is from Toronto and Jeff is from a small town in South Western Ontario. We met at a horse ranch through mutual friends. Jeff was volunteering as a farm hand in return for riding lessons for his little brother ( part of Big Brother and Big Sister of Toronto). We dated for 5 years and were engaged in 2006. We were married in 2008. We worked hard to buy our home and enjoyed travelling. In 2010, we became proud parents to our daughter, Alexandria. Being a family is extremely important to us and embracing our mixed cultures enables us to appreciate and enjoy a unique family identity. We passionately believe that growing our family through adoption aligns to our family values of embracing diversity and being compassionate regardless of one’s position in life.
Family and friends say that I am a fun loving, positive, adventurous person who is kind hearted and will always do what I can to help my family and friends. I have a passion for building and fixing things. I grew up on a small town with my parents and older brother. After high school, I went to college for Fire protection in Toronto. Life in the big city certainly was an adjustment! After college, I worked at a fire protection company installing fire sprinklers and joined the Canadian Army Reserves. In 2008, I volunteered to do a Tour of Duty overseas, which both exciting, scary and a once in a life time experience! When I returned, Rebecca and I settled down and bought a home in Mississauga. Once we had Alexandria, I retired from the military reserves and sprinkler fitting, and got a new career with a Fire department as a Fire Inspector. Through my current role, I have been fortunate to have amazing opportunities such as being part of the Honour Guard and to give back to our community through work and by volunteering for many charity events. All this being said, becoming a father is by far the best experience I have ever had. I love taking our daughter fishing, camping, on nature walks, ATV’ing, swimming, and yes, even playing dolls on a Sunday afternoon. I genuinely feel I have so much more to give as a father, and cannot wait to share adventures with another child.
Family and friends say that I am compassionate, loyal, honest and caring. I grew up in a multicultural neighborhood in Toronto with my parents. I was (and still am) fortunate to have very close and loyal family and friends from various backgrounds who have taught me to learn and enjoy wonderful customs and cultural events. I love to bake and we enjoy having our family and close friends together for an impromptu BBQs, marshmallow roast or movie night!
I enjoyed school, especially the arts, and was excited to be accepted to an Arts high school for music. Afterwards, I went to University to obtain my Bachelor degree and later a certificate in Human Resources.
I have worked for 17 years at a financial institution and have moved to progressively more challenging roles within the company. Currently, I am Senior Process Analyst.
While music is my hobby, helping others is my passion. Being active in the community through work or social events, I feel that I am at my best when participating, organizing and/ or generating awareness for causes such as Kids Help Phone, social program, shelters etc…
However, I must admit that the most joy I feel is when I spend time with my husband and daughter. Becoming a wife and mother has brought so much adventure to my life. I learn new things everyday from them. Whether it is making a craft, working on homework, playing dress up or watching a movie or sports, any time spent together is best time of day. I am excited and cannot wait to learn , grow and share experiences with a child that comes to our home through adoption!
Alexandria is in grade one at a school near our home. She is an energetic and happy girl, especially when playing with friends from the neighbourhood court. She enjoys gymnastics, swimming, dancing and singing. One of her favourite things is inviting friends over for a jump on the trampoline, a swim in our pool or to play on the playground in our back yard. Alexandria has a good understanding of what adoption is and is looking forward to a new brother or sister. She is very excited to be a big sister and teach him or her all the games she knows!
We live in a beautiful neighbourhood in Mississauga. We have a large backyard with lots of room to play. Our home is situated on a court at the end of a quiet street. On a nice day the court is full of neighbourhood kids of all ages playing. We love hosting family events and always enjoy entertaining neighbours and friends, especially on hot summer days in our pool. Jeff enjoys tending a large vegetable garden in the summer, while Rebecca enjoys the smells of flowers from our flower gardens. Alexandria enjoys jumping on the trampoline in the summer and the back yard rink in the winter. We are fortunate to be close to 3 parks, community centre and are a short drive to the lake to have ice cream and watch the boats sail by. We bought our forever house 6 years ago and have enjoyed turning it into the home we love today.
We are thrilled to welcome a child of any race or gender into our lives. Rebecca would take the first year off and Jeff would be there right from the beginning. We are fortunate to have close access to community, medical and early child learning centres nearby. When Rebecca returns to work, the great daycare nearby will be happy to help with care as they did with our daughter. Both of us are blessed to have a supportive family who are open to adoption and are very excited to welcome and support a new addition to the family.
More than anything, we want you to know that we will love your child unconditionally and will devote our lives to providing him or her with all the love, security and joy we have to offer. We want your child to always know where he or she came from and be proud of their identity. You will always be an integral part of his or her life, should you choose to be in his or her life or not. We plan to raise your child with an understanding for you and the sacrifice you are making for him or her. Please be assured that this child will be loved beyond words by us, by our families, by our friends, and he or she will always know the great love you have for him or her as well.
We want you to know how much respect and love we feel for you already. We cannot imagine what a difficult decision this is for you. We send positive and supportive thoughts your way so that you will have the strength and courage you need for your journey through this process. We believe you will want the best for your baby, and we hope that you will find that in us.
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us.
All the best,
Jeff and Rebecca
