Thank you for taking the time to read our profile and learn a little about us. We are very aware of how complicated and challenging this time must be for you, so first and foremost, we hope you find a family that is perfect for you and your baby. This must be the biggest decision you will ever make in your life. Please know that it is also our biggest hope – to become parents through the beauty of adoption.
We are excited about starting a family, as well as meeting you and working together on an open adoption and all the possibilities it would offer all of us. We’re committed to creating a relationship that works for everyone who is involved in your adoption plan as we want (and we’re sure you do as well) to raise a child who knows love from both sides of their adoption. We can provide your child with a happy, secure and loving home where laughter and joy will be heard and felt throughout. This is going to be an amazing journey, and we can’t wait to become parents!
Our book: http://bit.ly/2GhA4u1
We both grew up in different countries and in very different worlds, so we feel very lucky that our lives crossed paths. We met 5 years ago, the old-fashioned way, through writing letters to each other…just kidding, we live in modern times and we met on a dating website, lol. We were immediately comfortable with each other and learned that we love the same music, share many of the same interests, and both have a passion for knowledge and learning. When we met one another in person, we knew right away the other was “the one” and we’ve enjoyed a fulfilling and happy life together since Day 1. We treat each other with respect, consideration and honesty, and we enjoy a very close relationship that we both value deeply. We believe we have all the qualities that make a strong and happy marriage, which will in turn provide your child with a compassionate and caring family who loves them completely.
… going for long walks, cooking together, going to concerts, going for bike rides or hikes in nature, watching movies, gardening together, traveling, and making time for visits with friends and family near and far. We will still enjoy all these things once we adopt, but we look forward to sharing these activities with your child. Your child will enjoy spending lots of time in nature, learning different sports, playing cards and boardgames, learning arts and crafts, going to child friendly concerts, learning about music and different instruments, laughing at fun children’s shows, learning to dance, seeing other parts of the world with us and learning about different cultures, as well as spending lots of happy times cuddling…
•Giving each other really big hugs every single day
•Celebrating the big and little things in our lives together
•Communicating with each other respectfully and considerately
•Leaning on each other and always having each other’s backs
•Making time for each other’s families
Seeing the world both near and far is important to us. Whether it is camping by a lake, listening to a concert at the Sydney Opera House in Australia, exploring a new city or a new country, taking a road trip through our National Parks or just relaxing at our family cottage by the seashore, we love to have fun! Imagine your child as part of these adventures. Visualize them having campfires and roasting marshmallows with us, taking boat trips and travelling to fun and child-friendly places. We look forward to sending you photos of your child being truly loved while they travel to Disney World, go camping, and enjoy day trips with us. We bet you will always see a smile on your child’s face in these photos!
Maria is the most amazing and loving person I know. She is my best friend. She is active, adventurous and curious about the world, and she brings out the best in me wherever we go. Maria’s love for animals and nature is infectious. She is also a romantic. She strongly believes in the importance of love in everyday life and in the power of a big hug. Maria gives the best hugs! She is always there for me, and she supports me and my family during difficult times.
Maria was born in Bucharest, Romania, and she started playing the violin when she was 6 years old. After graduating from University, Maria started working as a professional musician. She is now an accomplished professional classical musician, playing concerts on stage. She is also very passionate about sharing her love for music. She’s been working with children of all ages for many years, and she runs a private violin studio out of our house. Her job allows her the flexibility to engage her attention both at home and at work, which will make it easy for her to spend lots of time with your child. Maria has the amazing ability to see things from the children’s perspective in a way that most adults don’t. I think it’s the biggest secret to her success as a teacher.
Maria loves her career, but she really wants to be a stay-at-home mom. Her love for children is endless; I can see it in the way she loves and cares for our goddaughters and our nieces and nephews, as well as her students. They all adore her!
On top of all that, Maria likes to learn and has many talents and interests: painting, cooking, gardening, knitting, photography, yoga. I have huge respect for her strength, for her hard-working and loving nature, and for the way she is able to mix independence with loyalty. Maria is also honest to a fault and is incredibly open – two things I love most about her.
I know Maria will be an amazing mom, and I can’t wait to start a family with her!
•One of Maria’s dreams was to play in the same orchestra as her father (who is also a musician). She realized her dream when they were both chosen and invited to perform in Spain for one month.
•Maria speaks three languages! Romanian, Hungarian and English.
•Although Maria is a classical musician, she has performed on stage with Kanye West, the legendary Barbra Streisand and jazz musician Diana Krall.
I am so lucky! I married the best friend I’ve ever had. Marc is my favourite person. I am always in awe of his quiet strength, his patience, and his calm, grounded, good, warm nature. He is loving and supportive. I can always count on seeing his beaming face in the audience at my every performance. Marc has always inspired me with his wide range of interests and talents. He is a chef, an author, a teacher, and an adventurer. He is a true student of the world, and for Marc, every day is an opportunity to learn and explore.
Marc works with young people and their families as a professional counsellor. He is passionate about his work, is really great at his job, and is admired and appreciated by his colleagues, students, mentors and employers. Marc also loves to teach. After completing his Masters Degree, he now also works as a part-time university professor. We are fortunate that he has a job with the flexibility to work from home as well, so he will be able to be an active and engaged father. This also permits lots of vacation time for us to travel together as a family.
When Marc works from his office, he always makes sure to be home in time for us to make dinner together. He can cook delicious dinners without even looking at a recipe. In addition, if I happen to work late, Marc always leaves the outside light on and greets me at the door with a giant hug when I return home. He is incredibly caring and positive, and he is the perfect match to my personality. I love many things about him, but the thing that warms my heart the most is seeing how gentle and fun he is with his goddaughters, our nieces and nephews, and our pets. I know that Marc is going to be an amazing father!
Marc is a true family man, and I know that he will be the most loving and supportive dad. As a father, he will share his thirst for knowledge, adventurous spirit, athletic competitiveness, joy for music and he will share his big heart with your child every single day of their lives.
•Marc makes the best home-made popcorn and french toast.
•Marc’s last two cell phones can be found at the bottom of the Ottawa River and in an underground river in Mexico. He really loves to cool off on a hot summer day!
•When Marc was 17, he realized a dream when he was chosen to be a member of a martial arts team, representing Canada at an international tournament in England.
Our lives are filled with so much joy and love from our two sweet furry friends, Jax and Coco. Jax is a 7-year-old playful, goofy and energetic miniature Australian Shepherd who loves people! Jax loves kids and he loves listening to Maria’s students playing their violins. He will be a great companion for your child, offering happy snuggles and lots of walks together as a family.
Coco is a 6-year-old, cuddly, full-of-life-and-love, 4-pound Yorkie-Chihuahua mix that we rescued. We believe her tail is directly connected to her heart ’cause she is all wiggles, always! She will make your child laugh every single day. Jax and Coco are amazing with kids, and they will be great companions for your child.
We have a wonderful 2-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom town-home with a finished basement and a cozy back yard. We are financially stable and we own this charming little townhouse. We live in a family-friendly neighbourhood that is close to bike paths, playgrounds, parks and lots of green spaces. We have some excellent schools nearby, including a great elementary school at the corner of our street. We are a quick drive to many ski and hiking trails in the Gatineau Parks, as well as to the Ottawa River and the Mississippi River (Ontario) for swims and fishing day-adventures that we know your child would enjoy! But most of all, our home is kind-hearted and affectionate.
Every summer, we do a road trip to Marc’s parents’ seaside cottage. It is absolutely lovely here! Family gatherings happen often in this peaceful place, where we all lose sense of time and appreciate the beauty of the ocean and each other’s company. We spend our days there swimming in the ocean, sailing, collecting seashells on the beach, watching the sunset, barbecuing, sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows, and driving to town to one of the best ice cream places ever! Being there, listening to the ocean with our toes in the sand and reading under an umbrella, brings a sense of joy to us all. This cottage is our peace of heaven.
Our families and friends are very important to us. They are always there for us when we need them. We have a large family with 5 siblings between us, 7 nephews and nieces and 2 god-daughters, as well as lots of aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandparents of course. We make every effort to spend as much time together as possible. Some of our family members are pretty spread out, which gives us good reason to travel. All told, we have family in Toronto, Edmonton and Romania. Holidays are busy and so much fun, with all the kids running around!
Maria is the oldest of four siblings, with 2 sisters and a brother. Her brother lives in our town, and her sisters live in Toronto. They are both married and have kids of their own. Maria was born and raised in Romania. Her heritage is Romanian on her father’s side and Hungarian on her mother’s side. Her dad still lives in Romania and we try to visit every year. Her mother lives in Toronto.
Maria holds her family’s Romanian and Hungarian traditions from childhood very dear, and she looks forward to sharing them as a mother – especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas, making her favourite Hungarian recipes and decorating the Christmas tree.
Marc is a middle child, with an older sister in Edmonton and a younger brother who lives in our town. Marc has Irish heritage from his mother’s side and Acadian and Acadian-Metis heritage from his father’s side. His parents live nearby, and they are so eager to have a grandchild close to them!
Marc’s mom was a nurse, and she will be only a phone call away when her grandchild has a fever or needs a gentle caress over a scraped knee.
Kids love Marc’s dad! His fun and playful personality and gentle patience have made him the honorary grandfather to many of the kids in the neighbourhood. Marc’s curiosity and love of knowledge comes from his family, in particular from his parents, and this trait is something he looks forward to sharing as a father.
Everyone around us is so excited and supportive of our plan to grow our family through open adoption!
We have had a lot of time to think about our life as parents. We know we will love your child unconditionally, and we will be by his or her side throughout everything in their life.
•We will dedicate our lives to creating a loving home.
•We will do our best to nurture your child’s interests and dreams.
•We will be accepting and understanding of your child’s choices in life.
•We will be silly, laugh and have a lot of fun.
•We will help your child to learn about the world by getting out and really experiencing life in different places.
•We will teach the importance of being kind and helping others and of being part of a community.
•We will focus on the importance of education and building a strong character.
We love the idea of an open adoption! We believe that an open adoption relationship will be the best and healthiest for everyone involved, and we welcome a relationship with you and your entire family.
So what will this adoption look like for you, your family, and your child? First, we will make adoption a positive part of your child’s self-image. We will always speak in a positive light about adoption and about your decision to make an adoption plan for your little one. Second, we invite you to be part of your child’s life through visits, texts, emails – whatever form works best for you. Let us know what you would like and how we can help you feel connected and involved. Third, we invite your family to be part of this arrangement. Are your parents interested in knowing us and being part of their grandchild’s life too? No problem!
And finally, please know that you will ALWAYS be an important part of your child’s life. We will respect you, love you and give you the kindness you deserve. We have an opportunity, all of us, to give this child everything they need to grow up to be a whole and happy human being – a life surrounded by two families who want the very best for them, two families who will love and support them always.
It is our sincere hope that you will have peace in this journey as well.
We have always talked and dreamed about building a family together, and as we are unable to have biological children, we feel blessed that adoption is an option for us to build our family. We believe that, in our role as parents, being on the “same page” will be key to raising a happy child. We also believe that patience, considerate and respectful reasoning, and consistent guidance are important in raising a confident and content child. We do not believe in physical punishment of any kind at all. Children need to be heard, and we will always listen with kind hearts to your child, regardless of the circumstances. They will know that we support and love them exactly as they are, and we want them to always feel safe with us.
In addition, it is important to us that any child we adopt knows how much their birth family loves and cares for them. Both of us strongly believe in the benefits of open adoption, and we intend to honour your child’s roots (you and your family) and adoption story. They’ll always know that it was your courage and strength that brought us all together, and that your decision was a selfless one, made out of love.
If you choose us as parents, your child will experience:
•Morning snuggles every single day
•Yummy meals as a family around the table
•Walks with the puppies
•Playtime at our local park and playground
•Celebrating special days with our friends and family
•The sound of music in their home
•Painting, drawing and being silly
•Bike rides on the trails in our little neighbourhood
•Play dates with little friends
•Learning to swim at our local pool
•Family adventures at the cottage
•Bedtime stories and more snuggles
•Love and cuddles from their grandparents
We both have Christian backgrounds and enjoy celebrating Christian holidays, such as Easter and Christmas. Growing up, Marc attended church regularly with his parents, and he feels that this helped him to develop his values. We also have a deep respect for all spiritual beliefs and religions. Most of all, we believe in simply being good human beings and treating every person we meet with respect and kindness. We believe in doing all we can to make the world a better place.
Jewelry making and knitting are some of my favourite past times. I love to make warm and cozy things like hats, scarfs or baby blankets for the little ones in our life. I also love to design necklaces and bracelets for everyone and give them as gifts. I look forward to making cozy sweaters and toques for your little one. Know that every single thing I make is filled with love!
We are really excited to expand our family, and we hope to meet with you to talk about your hopes and dreams for your child. We have done a lot of reading and research on private adoption, and we want to develop a relationship with you that feels natural and comfortable. We look forward to communicating with you through letters, pictures, emails and visits.
We promise we will always be open and kind with your child about their adoption story. Through adoption, we want your child to feel positive and loved by everyone who plays a role in their life.
We can only imagine how difficult this is for you to make a decision on who will parent your child. Although we would love to be chosen, we feel very grateful just to be considered, so thank you for taking the time to read our profile and learn more about us and who we are. If chosen, we promise we will love your child unconditionally. And we promise that you will always have our gratitude, our respect and our kindness.
Maria and Marc
