Hi! We are Kristy & Kyle.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our letter and for giving us the opportunity to introduce ourselves. We admire your love and courage in considering an adoption plan for your child. We cannot imagine how difficult and confusing a time this must be for you or what it has taken to come to this decision. We want you know that we will be here for you on this journey and that we promise to be the best parents possible to your child.
We promise to respect your wishes and comfort level of openness and contact with your child. We promise to love your child and to provide a happy and healthy home for them to live in. We promise to walk through this journey with you and offer you the support and care that you need.
Us As Parents
Since meeting and falling in love, it has been our greatest dream to be parents and to grow our family. We are so ready to share our love and lives with a child. We both come from loving families who have given us countless examples of family and the importance of togetherness and traditions. We are both teachers who work with children daily and have lots of experience in helping them to develop and learn. We cannot wait to spend our summers and holidays making memories with your child that they will cherish for a lifetime. Creativity, education, healthy living, good morals and strong character are all important for us to foster in our family.
Our Story
Our story began over 20 years ago when we lived in the same residence at the University of Waterloo- Kristy on the 1st floor and Kyle directly above her on the 2nd! We became fast friends and stayed in contact over the years as we began our adult lives and even ended up living in different parts of the world.
It was in 2017 that we reconnected and discovered that the person we wanted to marry was right there all along. Our love for one another grew quickly into a wonderful partnership and continues to grow each day. In 2018, we celebrated our engagement by a trip to Europe and were married the next year in our hometown. Since then we have been affectionately known as “K and K” by all of our family and friends!
Meet Kyle
Kyle is a talented guy! He loves nature and animals, is interested in science and sports, and loves to learn new things. He loves the water and is an avid scuba diver and surfer. As a child, you would have to pull him out of his Grandma’s pool or the lake when it was time for supper! He is a high school math and science teacher and is passionate about his career. In his spare time, Kyle does woodworking and is always building something for his niece and nephew, friends or putting one of Kristy’s designs into action. He is a fantastic chef and enjoys hosting family and friends.
What Kristy Loves About Kyle
Kyle is the best partner you could ever ask for. I love that he is patient and kind, and always puts his family first. He is supportive and works to put into action all the things I dream up for our home. He is smart, talented and creative. He adds the perfect balance to my life and I know he will be an amazing father who will seize every opportunity to teach a child new things and to help them grow! Life is never boring with Kyle. I love that he makes me laugh all the time with his bad dad jokes. I know that Kyle will do anything for our family.
Meet Kristy
Kristy has a passion for helping others and has always had a special interest in education. She played “school” as a child with her twin sister and loves to play imaginatively with her friend’s children and her niece and nephew. She loves her career as a high school teacher as it brings her great joy and fulfilment. Kristy is a ‘people person’ who enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves spending time outdoors whether hiking, skiing or going to an outdoor concert or festival. She is creative and loves to decorate and do home projects in her spare time. Kristy also loves animals and travelling.
What Kyle Loves About Kristy
Kristy is the most amazing woman I know. I am so fortunate to build a life with such a loving and supportive partner. She is funny, kind-hearted, intelligent and ambitious. Kristy is simply the best person to spend time with. She has a positive and kind spirit, and a contagious laugh. She is always up for an adventure especially if it involves kids or animals! She is one of the most generous and empathetic people you will ever meet, and she gives of herself selflessly to her family and friends. Kristy’s compassion, patience and endless love will make her a wonderful mother.
Our Traditions
Our biggest traditions involve the small things in life. We make a home cooked dinner most nights and talk about our day, enjoy homemade pizza on Fridays in front of the fire, and weekend morning coffees on our porch. We love to celebrate holidays and special events with our family.
In the fall we host Thanksgiving and enjoy setting the table for many to enjoy, we carve a pumpkin and dress up every Halloween. In the Christmas season, we wear our matching PJs and take an annual photo, drive around town with hot chocolate to look at Christmas lights, and ski with friends on weekends. Each summer we celebrate Canada day at the family cottage and get together for a BBQ with Kyle’s extended family. We also gather with Kristy’s family each summer for a Games Weekend filled with fun, laughter, and memories.
Our Lifestyle
We live a fun and healthy lifestyle. We stay active, love being outdoors, and love to see and explore the world! We have both been fortunate to travel in our lives, and we want to continue this as we start our family. We also savour the small things in life: being in our beautiful home, cooking together, and doing projects around our house. We hike in all seasons on the many trails near our house, we like to go to baseball games and concerts, and we are both avid skiers. Kyle also snowboards and would be a great teacher for any child.
Our Families
We both have supportive and loving families who play a big part in our lives. We have strong relationships with our parents and siblings. Kristy has a twin sister and Kyle has an older brother. Your child will have six very excited and active grandparents in their life. We also have a special bond with our niece and nephew, Lucy and Will. We know that they would love to have a little cousin to play with and to teach new things.
We are fortunate to see our immediate family regularly and speak with them on the phone or have video chats when an in-person visit is not possible. We also see many of our cousins and their children regularly, especially at Kyle’s family cottage.
We know that all of our family members would welcome our adopted child with open arms and will love them unconditionally just as they love us.
Our Home
We love our home. We live in Barrie, Ontario about an hour north of Toronto. It is the perfect town because it is close to both the city and cottage country. We enjoy all seasons and spend time hiking, biking, and skiing. We also enjoy walking downtown or on the boardwalk by the lake.
We live in a detached house on a quiet court, steps to playgrounds, parks, trails and an elementary school. We have a beautiful backyard where kids can run around, play and make memories. Your child will be very happy living in our neighborhood and will have many opportunities to make friends and to explore their interests and passions.
