We are Joe and Krista. Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We are a fun, adventurous couple looking to become parents through adoption. We are excited to begin our adoption journey and we would be honored to be a part of your’s, if this is the path you choose for your baby.
We hope this profile gives you a good idea of who we are so, here is a little about us:
Our story began in March 2001, in our small-town high school where we first met. We are still unsure about who actually set us up but, there are a few people who have claimed responsibility. It’s an ongoing joke with our friends.
In our seventeen years together we have had many experiences that have shaped who we are today particularly, our move to Ontario. After university we set out on our journey from Newfoundland to Ontario to start our careers. We both landed employment at the same power plant and began to put down roots.
We have been in Ontario for seven years now and have really settled in to our lives here. Though we miss our family and friends in Newfoundland, we shorten the distance by visiting twice a year.
Our wedding took place in Disney World during a week long vacation with our closest family and friends. It was the first time we were able to get our friends from both Newfoundland and Ontario together, and it was amazing. Our support system is now bigger than ever and we couldn’t be happier. With this support our family is ready to grow and we hope to do this with you, through adoption.
We try to spend as much time outdoors as possible. In the summer we like to swim at the nearby beach where we also enjoy paddle boarding and other water sports. We like to go fishing, hiking, and camping when weather permits. In the winter, we like to go skating at the nearby skating loop.
We are both huge sports fans. We love playing games with our friends or catching a big league game on the weekend. Becoming a little league coach has always been a dream of Joe’s.
When the weather isn’t on our side, we enjoy preparing healthy meals together and experimenting with new recipes.
These are just a few of our hobbies that we would love to share with your child.
Krista studied biochemistry (nutrition) at Memorial University and has developed a passion for healthy living. She is a chemical technologist at a nuclear power plant. Her favorite activity is Pilates but, she also enjoys paddle boarding and skating.
Krista loves to bake and really enjoys settling in for a movie night after a busy week.
Joe also studied at Memorial University. He works as a mechanical engineer at a nuclear power plant. Joe plays softball in the summer and hockey in the winter and enjoys a round of golf whenever possible.
He loves to cook and try new recipes and in his downtime he likes to relax with a good book.
Our most exciting hobby is travel. We love to travel around the world together (we especially enjoy trying new food!). We would love to show your child the world. Discovering new cultures and landscapes is important to us. Whether it’s snorkeling a reef , hiking a canyon or hopping on a bus tour, we know these memories will last a lifetime.
We both grew up with large families. They gave us all of the love and support they could offer. Our parents taught us to be respectful and accepting of everyone’s personal beliefs, which is a value we still share.
Our family’s each have their own unique traditions and values. Both of our families, however, emphasized the importance of spending quality time together. Our parents would take us camping at our family cabins, coach our sports teams, take us fishing and teach us to dance like no one is watching (we still dance like that).
When we get together we spend our time laughing, sharing memories and letting our competitive sides shine during board-game night.
We absolutely love Halloween! It is two days after Joe’s Birthday so we usually plan a big Halloween party to celebrate. We host a pumpkin carving night each year to start the celebrations and we cannot wait to add “trick or treating” to the list.
Our favorite time of year is Christmas! Our traditions include a family tree hunt, Christmas Eve sliding, gingerbread house decorating and a Christmas Day family sing-a-long. This is the time of year when we can all get together and show our love and appreciation for each other. It is special to us because everyone is home for the holidays and our childhood homes are full of love, excitement and lots of delicious food. Our main event is the annual boxing day potluck. This is where we sing and dance together in true “kitchen party” style. Everyone brings their most famous dish and we all watch hockey together to cheer on team Canada. We look forward to this day all year.
We would love to share all of these special traditions with your child and even add a few traditions of our own.
We share our home with our large and lovable German Shepherd, Ace. He has a great temperament and adores people, big and small. Ace loves to cuddle. He is a very gentle, intelligent dog that is pretty easy to train. Ace is a great companion and would be a wonderful big brother some day.
We live in a quiet neighborhood close to many of our friends and other young families. The nearest school is just a 5 minute walk from our house. We are also close to ball fields and playgrounds and only a 10 minute walk from the main beach.
We have many neighborhood walking trails where we enjoy taking our dog year round.
When it comes to parenting we believe in open communication. We also believe in discipline, not punishment. We want to understand and support each other while setting clear rules and boundaries for structure. We plan to have reasonable, age appropriate, expectations. We want them to have a healthy, happy childhood that helps them to reach their greatest potential. We also want them to know that they can be themselves and we will always support them.
We can not wait to teach them to play, use their imaginations and to, sometimes, just be silly.
We promise to love your child unconditionally and to help them grow with confidence and humility. We want to give them the opportunity to explore the world as well as their own hobbies and interests. We want their adoption to be a beautiful part of their life story and we plan to build an adoption book so they will always know where they come from. We look forward to an open adoption but, we will respect the level of openness that you are comfortable with.
If we are given this privilege to adopt your child, we promise to give them the best life we possibly can.
We will be sure to let them know the sacrifices that you made out of love. You are a very important part of their life, but you will also be an important part of our lives.
We wish you all the best in your life and we admire your courage and strength in making some tough decisions in the coming months. We are filled with love and excitement for the child we hope to parent through adoption. Thank you again for taking the time to read our profile.
