Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and for considering us in this important and difficult decision. We hope that through seeing our photos and learning more about us you will get a sense of who we are and the loving home we have to offer.
We met in 2009 at a local university in BC. A few months later we were both accepted into an international exchange program and spent a semester studying in New Zealand. It was there that our friendship grew as we travelled and adventured with a group of other international students. We have such fond memories of our time there. At the end of the semester we made our relationship official and started dating.
We returned to Canada and dated for 9 months more until one day on his favourite local hike Chad surprised Christina by pulling a bouquet of roses and ring from his backpack and asking her to be his wife. Without hesitating she said, “Yes!”. 9 months later we were married, surrounded by family and friends.
Soon after getting married we moved to Ontario for 2.5 years where Chad completed his Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture. We also spent 6 months living in Sweden where Chad studied for a semester followed by a month of backpacking across Europe. Although we found it hard being away from family and friends we look back fondly at that time during which we figured out marriage and life together.
We moved back to BC in Spring 2014 and have loved being close to family and friends once again. A couple years ago, after many years of saving, we bought our first house and have enjoyed making it our home by doing some small renovation projects together.
Over the past few years we have struggled with infertility which has been one of the greatest challenges we have faced together as a couple. Our faith in God and the support of our community of friends and family has really helped us during this time. Throughout this time we have supported each other and are confident that we can overcome life’s challenges together.
Chad makes life fun and always keeps me laughing, even when times get tough. Chad is loyal and loving. He has a huge heart for others, especially his family. Chad is also one of the hardest working people I have ever met. He gives his all to everything he takes on and never gives up.
In his spare time Chad loves working on projects around our house, especially in the yard. He is an avid gardener and we enjoy fresh produce all summer from his large vegetable garden. He also loves fishing and hiking and just generally being outside.
Chad is sensitive and gentle and all our friends kids and our nephew love him. I know he will be a great father, one who can get down on their level and play. I’m excited to see Chad in his new role as a Dad and I have no doubt that he will be amazing.
Christina takes the time to cultivate deep and long lasting friendships. Christina is one of the most caring and loving people I know. She has a big heart for showing people love and investing in her relationships.
Christina is super organized and loves to plan and prepare for things including our vacations, meal planning, and social activities. She loves to cook and eat healthy meals and is always experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Christina has an adventurous side and loves to visit new places.
Christina is also great with kids. She babysits our friends kids and loves to play with them, reading them books, teaching them new things and sharing activities with them. I know she will be a great mother because of her caring and loving attitude to the many kids in her life already.
Shortly after moving back to BC we started attending the church that Chad had grown up in and we became connected with a small group of other married couples. Over the past 4 years our group has grown closer together and also in size. There are now 11 children and 2 more on the way. We love these people and their kids and it’s been such a joy to watch them grow and develop. Our group meets weekly for bible study and also regularly for other events such as potlucks, get-togethers, and our annual camping trip. It’s a blessing to have such great people in our lives and to walk through life’s highs and lows together as a supportive team.
Both of our families live within an hour (most within 15 minutes) of us and so we get to see them regularly. It’s wonderful to celebrate special occasions such as holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and other events together and just meeting for a walk, coffee, or a meal. We have close relationships with everyone in our immediate family and they are all very supportive of our adoption plans and excited to welcome a child into the family. Chad’s family consists of his parents, two brothers, sister-in-law, and 2 nephews. Christina’s family consists of her parents and two brothers. We also have many other extended family members and wonderful long-time friends that live both near and far.
We also share our lives with our sweet dog Finley. He was born in May 2017 and has brought so much fun into our lives. Finley loves all people and is great with kids. He’s playful and silly and loves to snuggle.
We live in a cute & cozy home that was built in the 80’s. Our home is located in the suburbs of Vancouver and backs onto a park. We’re close to many parks, community centres, libraries, and stores. Our home has 3 bedrooms and we have already set up a beautiful nursery in the room next to ours. We have a fully fenced backyard and a vegetable garden. We live in a great neighbourhood where everyone knows each other and helps each other out. Our neighbours also know that we are waiting to adopt and are excited to meet our little one and have already offered to help in any way needed. We spend a lot of time at home, snuggled up on the couch watching a show or playing a game at the table. It’s our favourite place to be.
We both grew up in loving families that we remain close with and we will pass along that unconditional love to our child. We will raise our child with unconditional love and patience. Our home will be filled with joy and laughter and lots of opportunity to be silly together. We will also pass along our values of treating others, ourselves, and the earth with respect. As Christians we will raise our child as a Christian and pass along those values as well. Education, imagination, and exploration are also important to us and we will raise our child with many opportunities to learn, ask questions, travel and grow into a well-rounded adult.
We are very supportive of openness in adoption and would love to discuss this further and find out what your dreams are for your child. Your child will always know that they were adopted and that this was a decision made out of the utmost love for them. We promise that in our family you will always be spoken of and treated with respect and dignity.
Thank you so much for considering us to parent your child. It would be the greatest privilege of our lives to parent a child through adoption. We are so excited to be parents and can’t wait to add a child to our family.
