We are Daryl and Angie and we are excited to grow our family through adoption once again.
We would like to introduce ourselves by sharing a few things you might like to know about us.
We met in 2004 and got married in July, 2007.
We live in the Vancouver lower mainland area of BC.
We always planned to have children and started trying a few years after marriage.
After trying to treat out infertility, we began the adoption process and welcomed Cayden into our family in 2012.
We have much love to give and pray that God will again bless us a sibling and little angel into our family through adoption.
Thank you taking the time to consider our family as a potential match for your child and to make the decision that is best for your baby.
Daryl & Angie
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us through our little story and how adoption has been apart of our family from the beginning. We are excited about growing our family through adoption once again and hope you get to learn more about us and our dream of growing or family.
Daryl and I were both raised in beautiful BC. Our lives crossed paths 14 years ago. It is a funny story how we met, not being party people, we met on a dating site. I wasn’t really looking for a serious relationship but my friends told me that I should go for it and maybe I’ll meet my prince charming.
It was funny because Daryl was on the dating site and was going to give up. I came across his profile one day and saw a handsome young man who I was interested in. I sent him a smiley face emoji and he responded back.
After a couple of days of emails and phone conversations we had our first date at The Old Spaghetti Factory. We were immediately comfortable with one another and learned that we had a lot of things in common. Our conversation went on for hours and we felt like we had known one another for years.
We noticed the restaurant was empty and we asked our waitress what time they closed and she responded “we closed half an hour ago, but stay as long as you like.”
Our relationship grew stronger and 6 months later we travelled to Iceland for an event their and Daryl proposed to me at the Blue Lagoon. I had put on a mud mask when he proposed to me and he was holding on to the ring in a plastic bag in his swimming shorts. I had no idea that he was going to propose to me but I said yes.
We have now been together for 14 years and time sure flies when you are having fun. We both love travelling, going on road trips, riding bikes, and nature in general. We also enjoy a good movie and going out for a nice dinner.
We had always talked about growing our family biologically and through adoption ever since we started talking about having children one day.
Over the years we faced some fertility struggles and had 2 failed IVF’s which strengthened our relationship and deepened our commitment to becoming parents through adoption. We feel blessed that this is an option for us to build our family and weren’t going to give up.
We signed up for Adoption classes with an agency and took the steps required until our dreams of becoming parents came true.
Our son Cayden, entered our lives and hearts in 2012 and we found out how much this little blessing made us realize how much we really loved being parents!
Angie 42yrs is the oldest child of 3 and has 2 younger brothers. Growing up she enjoyed taking dancing lessons and playing soccer. As well she used to draw in her spare time and enjoyed being with her friends and looking after her 2 younger brothers as her parents separated when she was a young teenager.
She is a free spirit and always puts others before herself. I feel very fortunate to have her in my life and she’s an amazing mother to our son Cayden and a caring wife and my best friend. I can see the sparkle in her eyes when she is around children and I know deep down she would love to grow our family. She also loves, animals, travelling, working in the garden and going out for a nice dinner and watching a good movie.
Angie works in the customer service field where she enjoys helping members as she enjoys a fast-paced busy environment where she can display her hard-working skills.
Daryl has a special connection with adoption as he was adopted 11 days after his birth. Adoption has been such an importance in his life and we can’t wait for this theme to continue with the adoption of a second child.
Daryl 46yrs is the oldest of 2 and has 1 younger brother.
Growing up he enjoyed playing soccer, volleyball, gymnastics and track and field. He had a very large heart, gentle nature, and a kind and warm outlook on life. As a teenager he enjoyed renovating his parents home. I love many things about him but the one thing warms my heart is seeing him with our son Cayden. He spends quality time with him going for bike rides, taking the dog for a walk, and watching movies together. He also is there for me when I need him and always brings me up when I’m feeling down.
After a few years in the construction field Daryl started his own renovation company which is now doing very well. He is a perfectionist when it comes to his work and works after hours to ensure his clients are happy and pleased with the process of renos.
Cayden is a funny and helpful 5yr old son who has brought us so much love, joy and laughter into our lives. He loves animals, playing outside, music and dancing. And is a great helper with bringing in the groceries or feeding the animals.
He also enjoys stories and loves to snuggle up next to Mommy and Daddy each night for story time. He will be the most loving and caring big brother for a future brother or sister. He always says “When am I going to have a brother or sister” which makes us tear up and laugh as we promise him one day.
Both sides of our families are a constant source of support. On Angie’s side is her mother and 2 younger brothers. We get together for family visits once every other week so Cayden can spend time with his Grandma and Uncles. They love spending time with him and goof around like Uncles do and Grandma spoils and hugs him leaving lipstick marks on his cheeks. She’s always asking when she can babysit as she loves spending time with him and giving him little goodies.
On Daryl’s side is his father and younger brother. We see them every weekend at church and meet for dinner once a month so we and Cayden can spend time with his Grandpa and Uncle. They love seeing Cayden growing up into a funny little wise man who always makes them laugh.
We celebrate Easter and Christmas for the holidays together with Aunts, uncles and cousins. The children have Easter Egg hunts and for Christmas we play games just to mention a few. We also celebrate birthdays, graduations and important milestones.
We also have 3 fur babies in our family who we love dearly as we feel that it is important for Cayden to learn gentleness and to be gentle to animals. We have one pug, she is a sweet, gentle dog who loves children and just wants to be with people. She also enjoys daily walks and car rides.
We also have 2 cats who follow us around the house as they want to be in the same room with all of us. One of them cuddles with Cayden all night and keeps him warm and night.
When we welcome a new child into our family they will gain one amazing big brother along with a great extended family of grandparents, aunt and uncles, dear family and friends, and some pretty fun cousins. Everyone around us is praying and being supportive of our plan to grow our family through adoption!
We live in a 3bdrm and 2.5bth townhome in a family oriented complex where there are lots of parks and trails nearby. A complex that is filled up with other young families, playgrounds, and plenty of little playmates to play and grow up with.
We have a playground right outside our backyard where Cayden and Mylie can roam around. Our neighbors look out for one another and we feel safe in our neighborhood. There are many schools and recreation close by as well.
We really hope you got to see a glimpse of our story. We have so much love to give and can’t wait to share it! We look forward to bringing another child into our world, to teach them all we know, share our families and friends with them and cherish them every step of the way. We are good people, have huge hearts, share a great sense of humor, and honestly just want to be wonderful parents with a big family! Thank you for taking the time to learn about our lives, it means the world to us!
