Hello!

We are Amy and Nigel. We have been together for 12 happy, solid years. Nigel was married once before in his early years, and he has two children from this marriage, Julie and Boston. We work very well as a family, co-parenting these great kids along with their mom, Christine. We tell you this so you can right away understand that we are already skilled parents, and we are well aware of both the work and the joy that parenting can bring. So here we are, presenting ourselves to you, hoping we might adopt a child and parent from the beginning together.

Happiness is Together – by us both

We are both fun-loving, passionate people who have a strong appreciation for one another. Whether we are vacationing, camping in the outdoors, or just enjoying family time in our home, raising your child would be nothing short of a happy miracle for us.

Amy – Born September 14, 1979

I enjoy travel, the outdoors, and cooking. I also love camping (summer months only – lol). I was raised on a family farm, where I learned valuable lessons, like raising cattle, chickens, and other small animals.

I work for Allstate Insurance where I sell home and auto insurance, often working from home, which is a bonus for your child.

My nurturing personally shines whenever I am in the presence of children. Ever since a young age, I have always gravitated towards kids; I am very intrigued to see the world through their eyes.

My husband is my best friend and I couldn’t imagine my life without him! I have had the beautiful opportunity to help raise Julie and Boston, Nigel’s two older children from his first marriage. I have loved and cared for Julie and Boston with my whole heart, and I am overjoyed to think about what the future could hold for our family as we grow by one more.

Nigel – Born November 6, 1976

I am Nigel. I am a hoisting and rigging engineer. It was always a dream of mine to be a crane operator. I have a dream job that I look forward to going to every day.

I am an outgoing, social person who loves to make people laugh. I am a passionate person who loves life and adventure. I am a caring and loving husband and father, and I support my family the best way that I know how – through quality time, patience, and compassion.

I enjoy spending time with Amy and the children the most. Doesn’t matter to me if we are at home sharing a meal or spending time outdoors, where we go four-wheeling or camping.  Family is everything!I love the game of hockey, and I play goalie in a men’s league.

I live a dream with my wife and children in our beautiful home. I would be overjoyed to add to our family, and I look forward to meeting you to talk about that possibility.

Making Family Work – by Amy

Boston and Julie were very young when I met Nigel. Julie was 7 and Boston was 4. I respected their mom Christine from the start, and at the same time, I became an instant mother figure to the kids. This process has been a very natural one for all of us. We do everything together as a family unit. Nigel and I share all parenting responsibilities. I am not your average step-parent; I was and am still very involved with both kids.

Nigel and I have always taken a united approach to parenting, making decisions together and speaking to the kids as a team of two. To this day, we successfully co-parent with Nigel’s ex and her new husband. Things run very smoothly and work well in both homes. We are very lucky that way.

Juliann – Born April 9, 2000

Hi, my name is Julie and I am the oldest sibling. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. Growing up, my brother and I spent a lot of time outdoors, where we would build forts, go to the beach, and enjoy winter tobogganing. I played sports growing up and went to summer camp, where I became a camp counsellor. I love rollercoaster rides and camping, and my favourite time of year is Christmas. I also love music and singing, and I enjoy taking photos outdoors. I enjoy dining with my close friends over a great meal of sushi. I just recently moved out on my own, and I look forward to going to university next year. My parents are all great, and we would love to have a younger sibling!

Boston – Born December 21, 2002

I like being outside dirt biking, four-wheeling, fishing, and playing football. I am on my high school football and rugby teams. I like working with my hands, and I used to love building things with Lego when I was a kid. I am creative and I enjoy fixing things. Going camping and visiting Newfoundland are my favourite places to be in the summer months. I have a close, loving relationship with my sister Julie, and I hope to teach everything I know to our new little sibling.

First Nations Heritage (Julie & Boston) – by Nigel

Boston and Julie have both Aboriginal and Newfoundland heritage. The children’s mom, Christine, is from Chippewa Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. Both Julie and Boston are involved in their First Nation heritage, and they enjoy going to pow-wows and learning about their band. Julie has taken several courses in high school that study Aboriginal history. She has registered for university, where she will take courses in international studies and education, as well as psychology.

Newfoundland – by Nigel

Every few years we visit my family in my home town of La Scie Newfoundland. La Scie is a small, old fishing town that you can walk from one end to the other. Everyone in the town knows who you are and takes the time to talk to you. The fresh air, the water, and the view of the ocean is something out of a magazine. Eating fresh fish, and eating my mothers fresh baked bread is a sense of comfort to me. I would love to take your/our child to Newfoundland and show them where I grew up!

Camping – by Amy

Our favourite part of summer belongs to camping. The four of us have been camping since the kids were small. Nigel and I now have our vacation trailer parked permanently at a conservation park about 45 mins from our house. We are around beautiful Mother Nature, with walking and biking trials, water where we kayak, canoe, and fish.

A Happy Home – by Amy

We have a great 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom home that is filled with love, light, and laughter. We live in a kid-friendly neighbourhood where children play and enjoy the outdoors. We live in the central part of town, where schooling, community events, and social adventure are only minutes away. It is a warm and welcoming place to raise another child!

Adoption

We are more than happy to participate in an open adoption through pictures, letters, and visits with you (and your family too, if they are involved). We respect your difficult decision to make an adoption plan for your child. We know this will be a complex process for you, and although we cannot fully understand what you are going through right now, we do know that, together, we can make your child’s future blossom.

Thank You

We will be eternally grateful if you choose us to take on this wonderful adventure. We look forward to learning more about you too. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would love to build a relationship with you and move forward together in this life, with the happiness of your child as our mutual goal.

Wishing you all the best that life has to offer,

Amy and Nigel
