Thank you for allowing us this opportunity to introduce ourselves. We cannot begin to imagine how challenging a decision like this must be for you. We respect and admire your choice to consider an adoption plan for your child. It is an incredible sacrifice for you to make, and we can only hope that you choose us to be part of this adoption journey for your child.
We first met in Kingston, Ontario where we were both going to University; Alison at Queen’s University and Adrian at the Royal Military College of Canada. Adrian was studying Engineering while Alison was studying Geography, and later completed her Education (teaching) degree. We remained good friends while Alison pursued her teaching career and Adrian traveled the world with the Navy as an Engineering Officer. We only began dating in 2012 while Alison tutored children at Oxford Learning Centre and Adrian was the Engineering Officer onboard the Naval vessel HMCS St. John’s. We were married in December of 2014 in an intimate ceremony at Mont-Tremblant with our immediate family.
3 Things that are Most Important to Us:
1. Spending time together with family and friends
2. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle
3. Creating a lifetime of memories
I was born in St. Catharine’s, Ontario but spent my childhood and much of my young adulthood living in Kingston. The majority of my family still lives in the Kingston area and we enjoy spending holidays and birthdays together. As a child, I enjoyed ballet, tap and art classes, as well as spending time with family and friends. As a teenager, I enjoyed working on the school play each year, and spent afterschool hours babysitting and volunteering in local community initiatives. After university, I traveled to South Korea to teach English to middle school students in a small town on the coast. It was then that I knew that teaching was my passion. For the past 12 years, I have worked with children of all ages at a tutoring centre. I love spending each day getting to know my students and being a part of their lives. Seeing the smiles on their faces is the best part of my day!
Outside of work, I love spending time outside, visiting the local market, staying active, and creating new memories with family and friends. I very much look forward to weekends at the cottage, winter ski trips with family, and the occasional trip to Disney World with Adrian.
Alison is a warm, caring person with a fierce passion for the things she loves. She is very close to her friends and family and will do anything for those she is close to. On a relaxing day she can be found cuddling with either myself, or the cat, Nigel, hanging out with good friends, or spending time with family. Alison truly loves her job where she spends countless hours teaching children. You can see the joy in her eyes as she guides children through education. As a teacher she inspires all that come in contact with her and her passion for education is infectious. I enjoy everyday I get to spend with Alison and cannot imagine a better person to share my life with. Alison is truly my best friend who is always there for me no matter what. I know she will be a fantastic mother.
I am an Indo-Canadian born in Cornwall, Ontario. Both my parents were born in Goa, India and immigrated to Canada before I was born. I still have extended family in India, across the country, and around the world. As a child, my two younger siblings and I enjoyed playing lots of sports including soccer, swimming, and martial arts. A significant portion of my youth was also spent in the cadet program where I met people from across the country and built life long friendships. In my spare time, I enjoy working on cars, building things, swimming, and sailing. I have been in the military for 19 years and truly love what I do. When I have time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family.
Adrian is outgoing, confident, and loves new adventures! He very much enjoys his job and takes great pride in being in the military. I met Adrian in university and he quickly became one of my closest friends. We were lucky to reconnect years later and rekindle that friendship. I couldn’t be happier knowing that I get to spend everyday with my best friend! He’s patient and kind and always puts others before himself. He has several nieces and nephews and, although we don’t see them as often as we’d like as they live in different cities, he cherishes every moment he gets to spend with them.
We happily share our home with our adorable tuxedo cat, Nigel. He has a good temperament and adores snuggling with us on the sofa at the end of the day. Although he is 7 years old, he still loves to play with us and his toys just as he did as a kitten.
We live in a modern two-story home in a suburb of Ottawa. We have parks, schools, libraries, and community centres within walking distance. We have a fenced back yard with space to run and play. We love entertaining friends and family and can forsee lots of summer days spent playing outside with our nieces and nephews.
We both work hard, but work-life balance is very important to us. We are both fortunate to have some flexibility in our work schedules to ensure we are able to make time for the important things in life: family, friends, and each other. A typical weekend would be filled with outdoor adventures, such as skiing, hiking, swimming, and soccer. If we’re not spending the weekend with family, we’re most likely play tourists in our own city, discovering museums, festivals, and new restaurants to try! A quiet evening at home playing board games or watching a movie is always a favourite way to end the day!
We have always wanted to have children in our lives and have chosen to build our family through adoption. Part of this decision stems from Alison’s mother being adopted as a young child (along with her two younger siblings). Alison has seen first hand, and has heard stories from her mother throughout her childhood, about how important the choices that both her birth and adoptive parents made were in shaping who she is today.
We look forward to maintaining an open relationship with you through letters, photos, emails, and visits. We truly believe that there is no better way to raise a child than to have them feel that they belong to both their birth family and their adoptive family.
Together, we will strive to raise your child in a happy, safe, supportive, and fun environment. We believe that children do best with structure and knowing what to anticpiate. We will encourage openness and honest communciation with your child as they grow.
We were married in the Catholic church and believe that a strong ethical system is of the utmost importance. We live our lives practicing kindness, community, and compassion for others. We draw from our multicultural background and try to celebrate a variety of holidays, tying in cultural traditions from our families and backgrounds.
We promise to love your child unconditionally and to help them grow into a confident and kind adult. We want to give them every opportunity to discover their own path – with our constant and unwavering guidance, love, and support. If we are fortunate enough to become parents, we promise to provide a lifetime of love, guidance, and the happiest of memories.
We look forward to an open adoption and will respect the level of openness that you are comfortable with. We look forward to sending you emails and letters, along with photos, to update you at every step of their journey.
We can’t wait to experience everything that being a parent has to offer: the highs, the lows, and everything in between. We are truly honoured that you considered us for this beautiful opportunity. Thank you.
